You can fly Basic with any size plane. I have tried two 1/4 scale models. I am now flying a 33% Cap and I will tell you I look better than with the other two planes. I would recommend something this big. I get all my stuff used, but if you like new, I would say that the ZDZ80 single and H9 33% Extra are your best bet.

The combination will be about $600 more than a 1/4 scale plane but worth it.

when i started i had a greatplanes .40 size extra and i did prety well. a 1/4 scale (or so 70-85" wing) would be your best bet. i am now flying a 25% aeroworks edge.

my sudgestion would be get an airplane you like and are confortable flying. than go practice. thats all there is to it. good luck!

p.s. where is bryan, OH? because i live just north of columbus.

I've been flying my EF Yak in Basic and Sportsman all season. The plane is great for a first time IMACer.... I highly recommend the plane. Last competition I beat several guys with 35% planes in sportsman.

I have a WH 28% Extra Special and I really like it, though I probably won't get to a competition this year. Been too busy. I'm getting the EF 87" Yak as a competition plane for now untill teh 100cc version comes out sometime next year. I'm glad to hear all teh good reports on the EF planes!!!
