BME Ultimate and DA100
I'm thinking about getting the BME 37% Ultimate and powering it with a DA100. BME Aircraft say that the plane weights 27lbs with the BME Xtreme110 which is almost 2 lbs lighter than the DA100. That would put the plane at 29lbs+. I want the plane for sportsman IMAC. Is the DA100 going to be enough?

I have the 37% BME Ultimate. Have not got it flying but I am goint to put a BME 110 in it. But the DA should have all the power you need.

I've seen the DA-100 pull a 34 lb plane (Carden Cap) around with no problem. It'll be fine with the bipe around 30 lbs.

It will not be good. In order to get the power out of the DA 100, you are going to have to prop it for high rpm. Then you are going to have noise issues. Holden had his Da 100 in a 28 lb plane and it struggle on up lines in our heat. then he switched to a smaller prop and then it made to much noise. |

just a question, but why not put a bme 110 in it?? bme will give you a deal on that combo!!

The plane is designed around the BME 110 but I do not think they will give you a deal. BME Engines and BME Aircraft are not the same company. They are different companies with different owers.

The DA may not have enough power being that you out west. I would give BME Aircraft a call and ask them if anyone they know is using DA 100 on that plane. (604) 638-3119

Brian I do. You can't go wrong with the BME 110. Just set it up in the plane like any other gasser (cooling wise) and tune it properly.

You fellows must have some thin air out West. Do you fly when the temperature gets much above 90F?

Sometimes it is over 100F, but the humidity is not bad.

When it's over 100 degrees the plane acts like the servos are bad. The plane just doesn't react. I really notice it on negative push outs, at times you have the stick pushed as far as it will go.
Last summer we had a few days that the humidity was 3-7%, it can be very dry. |

When it's hot here, we get humidity too. I remember flying one Imac contest with a bag of ice under my hat. Other flyers had to quit because of the heat.

Yes we do. Even my wife thinks we're crazy but we do. If we couldn't fly when it's above 90, we wouldn't get much flying in. But remember it's a DRY heat [sm=sunsmiley.gif] !

BME aircraft does offer a combo deal for Ultimate/ BME 110. Why don't you check them out? They would also give you a free BME pro with the combo. |
