RE: HI TECH 5945 SERVOS
YUP I was yelling because you brought up a thread that had a ton of "misinformation" and you think it is the gospel! You can believe what you want. You seem to think that I'm lying or somthing with your "HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM"..... So whatever you want. Oh by the way...they call a PM a private message. If I wanted to post it in the thread I would have done it. But hey if you want to post the whole thing go ahead...I really don't care. I was honestly trying to offer an opinion on the subject and you disagree by trying to discredit me assuming that my opinion is based only the fact that I had two fail in a plane....wrong. Anyone can have something fail, but when happen over and over to guys you need to wake up sooner or later.....or not! So whatever man. I'm done with this....it's just not worth it.

RE: HI TECH 5945 SERVOS
If there was misinformation in the other thread it came from you. I quoted what you said!! Not what someone else saw or what someone else said that you said, but what you said!
You said that you used program mix's to link servos on the same surface and you said that the first airframe was wrecked and the servos were in the second airframe when they failed!! As for the smart *****, you started that earlier in this thread by your "I am sure all the hitec supporters are gonna go crazy on me here so I am gonna not post to this thread again about this.....just do your OWN research and draw your own conclusions. Not mine or anybody else." As for the PM's. You didn't email me to reason with me but to start yelling at me, swearing and ranting, that's why I posted the first part. If that's the way you want to communicate thru the PM's then please don't bother wasting the time to PM me!!! I hope that this is done. Once again, per the question asked, it looks like there have been maybe 2 hitec failed servos vs around 100 that are still in use and going strong. If you think the other brands never have failures then you are delusional as I believe all brands have a percentage of failure. It's been brought up in the past that maybe more hitec's have been sold vs the other manufacurers. As far as polls are concerned on online members, we've learned recently in the election, it appeared that Dave Brown might have been voted out or at least close in the vote, per the actual results though it wasn't even in the same ballpark. In my case, many more hitecs have been sold vs the others so there is a higher chance of servo failure of my hitecs than the other brands that I have but yet I've not had any failures with the hitecs. |
RE: HI TECH 5945 SERVOS
I hope everyone that is reading this thread takes the following into consideration. There is a survey thread running by RCU that shows that Hitec servos are used 2 to 1 over any other servo in giant scale planes. There are thousands of Hitec 5945's out there in use.
We all have notice that in any subject here on RCU; pick one - servos, plane manufacturers, etc, etc, there are a vocal few that badmouth a product to no end, for reasons real or imagined. The hundreds of satisfied users are rarely heard from and the circumstances of the loss can rarely be validated, regardless of what the poster states. I can understand the fealings of someone that has lost a $4K or $5K plane; and if I had I may also decide I never want to see or use the offending part again in this lifetime. This hitec issue has been beat to death. it's time to let it go. I use them in three planes and love them. Some of you have had bad experiences and hate them. But getting personal here on RCU serves no purpose and actually detracts from serious consideration of anyones position. |
RE: HI TECH 5945 SERVOS
Tell you what...go ask Jim McQueen about his Hitecs...2 planes later....

RE: HI TECH 5945 SERVOS
Leardriver,
I clicked on one of the links at random. Didn't see much evidence of 5945 problems. My advice//// If you don't trust them, then don't use them. I personally have seen more JR 8411s and 8611s fail than I have personally seen Hitec 5945's fail. I emphasize the word "personally", and I have seen A LOT of all those servos. Use what you are comfortable and familiar with. It really is that simple. Me, I use whatever I think is the best thing on the market at the time I am building the plane. Right now, at this instant, it's probably the 5955. However, in a month or two that my change and it may be a Futaba or JR. I'd LOVE to see Futaba step up since I am a Futaba loyalist. |
RE: HI TECH 5945 SERVOS
As I posted earlier, I like and trust my 5945's . I pulled them out of my crashed Cap (Nose landing following engine failure while torque rolling about 25' high), and I am re-installing them in my new 33% Extra.
I am also a Futaba loyalist, and have recently installed 10 9152's in my 42% Extra. They are great, but require a matching device. I can't wait for Futaba to come out with programmable servos;) When I first built the Cap 3years ago, I had JR 8411's with Matchboxes: after 50 flights they devellopped the "jitters" at neutral, so I sold it all to a friend who is not so picky on slop, and flies with very small throw (short arms). After over 150 flights with the 5945's, I have no flagrat play, and absolutely no "jitters". They are keepers. |
RE: HI TECH 5945 SERVOS
ORIGINAL: desertpig I have 42 of these servos in my planes.... flawless, tight, and trouble free. I use an H9 ammeter when doing setups and I don't use previously crashed servos .. that may explain why I don't have problems and some others on this post have... :D:D:D Use them with confidence... just make sure they are programmed correct and that the current is zero or near it at all end points.. of course you would do this with JRs too (I hope).... I am amazed at how emotional some people get over this stuff... JR, FUT, HItec... its all good man! DP Yep that's what I do, so far I have not had one fail. I'm doing a experiment, I've in stalled all hitec in a helicopter plan on see how fast or if they will even fail with some hard 3-d flying. :) In my life time I have had 3 JR servo failures, 2 futaba servo failures and no hitec failures. |
RE: HI TECH 5945 SERVOS
Ok guys, I'll tell you what. This thread is discussing a valid issue, HOWEVER, a few people are getting a little too heated over this discussion.
So I am TEMPORARILY locking the thread. I, or another Mod will open it again in a day or two, but for now just take a time out and cool down. |
