Reversing Y harness
Has anyone experienced problems connecting dual elevator servos to a reversing Y harness? Im using Hitec servos with identical linkages and geometry but cant get them to work in unison. The adjustment in the y harness seems extremely sensitive and one servo "hunts" to find center.

RE: Reversing Y harness
Yes, I have had exactly the same problem. I now only use P-mixes over multiple channels. The only other way that I know that eliminates this is to use matchboxes.

RE: Reversing Y harness
Or you could use one futaba servo and one JR servo and a normal "Y"
the two servos turn in opposite directions.... |
RE: Reversing Y harness
I tried a reverser--it was good up to about 20° then one would get ahead of the other no matter what I did.
If you use digital servos you can reverse one, but that does not mean that they will match perfectly. If you have the radio to run it on another channel you can get it right and avoid the match box. I have Futaba and now run channel 2 and 8 and no problems. |
RE: Reversing Y harness
Thanks for the input...Looks like the reversing Y harness is the problem.

RE: Reversing Y harness
GPSpacewalker, What Futaba are you using to run ch2 and ch8 on Elve. mixing?? Have you ever used a 8U for this?? If so, how did you set it up??? Thanks Hooker53

RE: Reversing Y harness
Are you using digital hitecs? If so they are programmable.
If not, ditch the y-harness and look at the Smart Fly Equalizer. This really is the only way to go on these setups. Also take a look at my elevator setup tutorial [link=http://www.1tt.biz]HERE[/link] DP www.smart-fly.com |

RE: Reversing Y harness
I have a Futaba 8U radio and have tried mixing the elevator servos by using channels 2 (elevator) and 6 (flap) (I have a 7 channel receiver and so using channel 8 is not an option). The mixing works OK but the dial for channel 6 is still active and Im afraid that I will bump it and cause a crash. Is there any way to disable the dial but still have the mixing turned "on". So far I havent been able to figure out how to do both.

RE: Reversing Y harness
Look at this from Futaba's website :http://www.futaba-rc.com/faq/faq-9c-q512.html
If there are any other questions, you can look up the 8U under the discontinued models and read the FAQ's as well. It will also tell you how to disable the knob you are already using. Hope this helps..... |
RE: Reversing Y harness
Radio One: I have an 8U and the way you have to disable the knob will be to use a P-mix and set master and slave to channel 6 and then Null both sides of the mix, 0% for both, this will cancel out the knob but will use up one P-
mix. Hope this helps. Rick. PS: I should have said start by activating the mix, then set both channels to 6, then set both % to minus 100% this will cancel each out, then link-off, then off set 0, then I set mine to work all the time on stick 3 which is throttle, and then set that to null. you are finished. |
RE: Reversing Y harness
Thanks Rick......exactly what I was looking for.
