power box and match box
I'm finishing a Comp arf 40% extra ,and i want to use a single recv'r .i have a power box and matchboxes.Do I run my servos(say Rudder) into the matchbox and then into the power box. This stuff is all new to me and if having a little trouble sorting it all out.I want a SAFE and reliable setup. any diagrams and pix would really help.I live 1 block from nowhere usa and local assistance is very scarce.thank you all for any help you can give.

RE: power box and match box
From your servo's go to the matchbox. Don't use any extension between the match box an power box use only the one supplied by jr(the short one). Then adjust linkages mech. then adjust the match box to fine tune everything i like to use an amp meter but many people do it by ear. The reason you don't want to use any extension between match box and power box is that you will be running 3 or 4 high touque/high current servo's and you need to keep the reistance as low as possible since you will be drawing some high currents through that one extension.

RE: power box and match box
Dave, Sounds like your putting together a pretty serius flying package. You may want to consider selling the power box and match boxes and just buy a Futaba 14 Mz radio. I believe the 14 Mz is a very cost effective move and provides many other advantages for the serious giant scale flyer.

RE: power box and match box
The MZ would only give you the 'matchbox' capabilities.
It couldn't replace the power bus, redundant battery system, signal amplification, ferrite rings, constant output voltage etc etc.... I can't really see the MZ being a cost effective move on a giant scale aerobatic model. On a jet with many functions it has proven a good move but with rudder, elevator, aileron, throttle and possibly smoke/choke I can't see it being a financially sound reason, the cool factor however.........:D Rgds, Mark |
