BASIC sequence question

When doing the 180deg aerobatic turn, does it matter which direction you turn?
Thanks,
Craig

Craig,

The turn can go either way. If you have gotten blown out, turn to come back in and if you have gotten blown in, turn away.

yep -and you can add or subtract power as desired to get back -just make sure you select the bank angle right at first -then stick to it.
It can be quite a challange if you have never done it.

either way,

i agree with the fact to pick an angle, and stick to it...go as close to 90 as you can go, then use your rudder to keep the correct altitude...

if theres one thing NOT to do its go over 90 degrees....puts you in pretty mush a lose-lose-lose situation...

I believe the criteria is 60°-90° of bank. Roll rate into and out of the turn must be the same.

The turn can be made either way!! It really depends if you fly close to the front of the box or the back of the box, as you can't go outside the box. For me I turn back into the box (from the front edge towards the back). Also the bank angle must stay the same as does altitude throughout the turn. Roll rate into and out of the turn must be the same.

RE: BASIC sequence question

Roll in to the turn without changing direction. Once bank angle is established, trade rudder for elevator and turn 180 degrees. Make sure you rollout exactly opposite the place you began the turn, not the bank. Roll rate out is same as roll rate in. Keep the turn rate consistant and no changes in altitude.
