NEW COMBO
Ok as it turns out I will be unable to build this winter because of school comittments. I am now thinking about the TOC YAK as my bird for next season. I know this plane flies good on "stanDArd power" but how about the MVVS 58 on a cannister. It has the wing area to carry the extra bit of weight and claims 8HP.

RE: NEW COMBO
It should be a good combo. I would doubt the 8 HP rating however. While it is possible to produce from this displacement it would put a real strain on the parts making it a short lived arrangement. There are many ways to determine HP. Comparing by the same method (almost impossible) would be the only way and not likely to happen.

RE: NEW COMBO
hey budget dude,
i have a toc yak with a mvvs 58. it is too heavy to 3d properly. i can fly most of the imac seq with some success. it is an awesome plane for just hooning about and no it doesnt need a canister. i have a modified slimline da 50 muffler on it and it isnt that loud. the 58 spins a 3w 24 x 10 wood prop at 6450rpms and is a totally sweet engine. the engine really needs to be in something a little bigger, my next project is a ca 31% extra. with a wingspan of 93 in and the same weight as a toc yak i feel this will be the plane for that engine. the 8 horsepower bit is a bit rich. i would estimate 6.5 or around there. if you are going to buy a toc yak. put a lightweight 50cc engine in it. ie under 3 pounds. it will be a really good aircraft. aerowiz |
