What sim...

... do you guys recommend for practicing IMAC?

I've heard too many horror stories regarding Real Fright to even consider it; besides, I want to to be able to use my 9Z, as opposed to some empty cheap box.

I've been to the sim forum on RCU. I'm looking at the Aerofly Pro Deluxe site; looks good.

But I would like to hear the consensus here. I'm primarily interested in IMAC sequences, but my #2 grandson will also use it eventually for his introduction into flying. So I'd like to know how your recommendation does as a trainer sim, too.

I'll worry about hardware needs, etc., when the time comes. All I'm looking for here is your opinions on the screen product of whatever you think is best: how realistic, precise, etc.

TIA...

I use AFPD...

the planes do float a bit, but I added a bit of weight to the planes, dialed in the weather a bit, and speed up the sim and it is pretty close....

Pick up a used G2 (with a transmitter interface) Still can't be beat for IMAC practice at the price.

BTW, yes I have AFPD, but for just IMAC practice a used G2 is a better value.

I played with an early release of G3. (or maybe that was a beta since they are still working on it ?) and hated it.

AFPD is my choice. I own both and AeroFly is hands down the better sim.

AFDP is my choice, I had the Reflex also and sold it, AFDP have trace so you can actually see if you are getting back on the same line and can also see the !QUOT!box!QUOT! that you will draw with the first two turn around maneuvers.

Ok, I have a question for those of you who are saying AFPD. What settings (and !QUOT!plane!QUOT!) are you using to get:

a) Both positive and negative Snaps to feel right. Snaps that you can unload and feel like they are not buried. Snaps that you can reproduce in the real world.

b) The feeling that the !QUOT!plane!QUOT! is neutral both upright and inverted. I like to fly so that when I roll inverted I have almost no push. I cannot seem to find a setting of CG and incidence that gives me that feeling without other things getting wired.

While we are talking settings give up your IMAC control throw and expo settings ( I like to use an old transmitter so my good one is not taking abuse.

The Extra 330S tweaked. (It looks and flies very close to my carden 330s)

Are you the same Steve Cambell that used to right articles for Model helicopter Technique?
