35% servo selection?

I have a wild hare g-202 that I intend to use in the basic class this season. The minimum aileron servo required for this plane is 120 ounces. Will that be enough or are the minimums just that? The reason I ask is I have a lot of futaba 9451's rated at 120 ounces. If it is going to burn up gears in one of my servos I'll go bigger, but everyone likes to save a buck, lol. Just to clarify the plane was purchased used and already set up with single aileron servo per wing.

RE: 35% servo selection?

I had a Lanier 202 at one time outfitted with JR 8101 servos and it was just fine. If your Futaba servos are in that ballpark you should be fine

RE: 35% servo selection?

At these sizes, metal gears have more to do than only the torque of the servo. If your 120 oz servo has metal gears, you should be fine. If not, you will have problems, especially on ailerons, where vibration kills the most.

It also depends on the throw of the control surfaces. The less throw, the less torque required...
