JR Servo selection
Hi
I have an 85" Yak54 that I intend to fly in IMAC. As I have not flown a model of this size before in competion flying I would appreciate suggestions on what servos to use on which surface. Cheap is not the main criteria, however I will not be flying serious 3D either. Thanks Chrisp |
RE: JR Servo selection
I have used Hitec 5645's and 5985's, they are not JR but worked well in my planes.

RE: JR Servo selection
I like to look at the manufacturers suggestion then add around 50 ounces to it for a safety buffer. I then go and look over what servo will give me that.
You could easily use JR8411's on that plane on everything and have more than enough holding power but the 8611a's are the same price and much more holding power though a tad heavier than the 8411's |
RE: JR Servo selection
I had the sister plane (EF 87" Yak 54) and used the JR DS8611A servos. I had absolute control and great centering with these servos.

RE: JR Servo selection
Like already said the 8411's will work, but if you think that a bigger airplane will come later get the more powerful servos so you don't have to upgrade with the larger plane. Tom

RE: JR Servo selection
I would go with Hitec 5955 servos. yes they are overkill for this application but I am assuming that this airplane is going to be powered with a 50cc gasser where the servos will be subjected to a fair amount of vibration . The 5955 servos will wear better than others because of the Titanium gears. These servos can be bought for 90.00 each if you shop around. if you went with a slightly less powerful servo you could maybe save 15.00 to 20.00 per servo for a total savings of about 100.00. Not all that much when you consider the total investment.
