Best Sim for IMAC practise ?

I had Realflight (G1/2) and found it most frustrating. What is the best sim for IMAC practise? I would prefer one that allows slow-motion so my old fingers have a chance to learn what's required rather than fly-and-hope.

Thanks,
Craig.

seems to me the last time I use G2 there was an option to set the simulation spee. Look around in the option fields and see if that iso. Also, the option that increases the size of the model slows it down.

Making it bigger was a kluge at best. I don't recall being able to set simulation speed w.r.t. slow motion. Is G3 any better, or the same cr*p in different clothing? What about other products?

AFPD allows you to control the sim speed. However, IMHO, if you want to practice full IMAC sequences
in a sim you will be disappointed in all of them. You simply do not have enough visual field in a sim
to control where the plane is relative to you and the X/Y axis' you are flying. Sims are great to
practice individual maneuvers and to develop your muscle memory on the sticks but not great
for sequence parctice.

you can change the "speed" in g2 its under phsics 100% is normal ''speed'' 65% would be like slow mo.

I use G2.
Its no substitue for burning gas but it does pretty well.

I made recording of all the 2007 IMAC Sequences on G2.

I have Reflex XTR; and as others have stated, the field of view does not work. But it looks like the one the Down-on-the-deck folks uses for their sequence demo works. http://www.downonthedeck.com/ look at the center-bottom of the page

I'm using Aerofly with reasonable success in sequence practice. The secret is to choose a scenery that has stuff in the background such as mountains. The new, downloadable, Grassau photofield is pretty good, but my favorite is the Farmland. There is also a modified version called Farmland-grid floating around the Inet, made by an AMA pattern guy, that has a "box" suspended in mid-air. This gives additional reference points when flying high.

I was looking for the same thing. To be able to practice RC flight effectively, one needs to make the sim as real as possible. I fly behind a large screen LCD 1080p TV, standing, using FS One and surround sound. Its not the same as the field(need to have a gas/nitro smell in the house) but it is very close. I got the whole setup to compete this year. Thus far, taught myself rolling circles that I put to use last week. Adam

RE: Best Sim for IMAC practise ?

I no longer have G2 installed. When I got a new computer last March, I never installed it (or I tried to and it had problems, I can't remember).

Another issue I had was that I have every upgrade CD since V1, so installation was a major pain.

Before going down that painful route again, I may just buy some other sim or G3. That's why I am looking for recommendations, with emphasis on IMAC practise.

I'll need to look at some of those mentioned here, see if there are any trial versions.

Wayne - thanks for the sequence videos. I'll be taking a look at those in more detail (spin entry in Sportsman looks iffy ;) ).

Keep the suggestions rolling.

Craig.

I use the 25% of normal speed to work out patterns. It doesn't help with timing, but as you lock in the pattern, I increase to 50% then 75%. It is much the way classically trained musicians work out tough passages. The gasser Extra in the sim is excellent as are the helis (not that any IMAC guys fly helis).
