Cannisters?
 

I can't seem to find out much information on using cannisters ie: brands or styles. Iv'e been to a few web sites but don't speak German.
what i am going to do is write a review on how a sport flyer can get into 40% without spending a lot of money and I would like to make this plane legal for IMAC. I don't fly IMAC myself, but if this plane works out it may be something I'd want to try.
This will give you a idea of the direction I'm taking. The plane is SD Models 40% Extra ($1299) a Spanish engine that is new to this country EVO 150 ($1299)
I've gotten some good feed back from several people like Dick Hanson on radio and servos.
Feel free to give me your ideas keeping in mind that this is for the new guy and his wallet
I want this plane safe, but not the top dollar equipment if it can be helped.

You dont need cans to be IMAC legal. Some of us with da150's are running in cowl mufflers, these used with a mejzlik 32x10 and some throttle control produces a fairly quiet, lighter, easier, and also cheaper setup. I would argue that mine is as quiet in alot of cases. As my screen name suggest I am budget minded, but I have found you cant skimp to much on a 40 pound airplane.

Thank you. I do have a 3-bladed prop that's CF and have been told that if you use a in cowl muffler with twin pipes it helps. I will do a db test when finished. Can you tell me what your db is when tested. The next choice will be servos. I have many choices. Dennis

I am unfamiliar with a twin pipe in-cowl, the ones I use are a DA sinle outlet and I have never done a db check. All I have to go by is being around lots of this style airplane all summer. Check with Jtec as they make many kinds of incowl mufflers.

I have just flown in two IMAC events in the SE in the last few weeks & no Db test was done. However running cannisters doesnt guarantee you wont get dinged for noise if you still rip the prop. I found this out at the Piedmont event in NC several weeks ago. I since have bought a 3 blade prop for my DA-100, but havent tried it yet for other reasons........

What's the noise limit? I checked my DA 100 with cans today and it was 112db at 6', full throttle

Dont worry to much! 100cc planes are generly louder.
