Who makes the best 33-35% plane?
I am looking to get into the Big Stuff for Imac, currently flying a 25% Sig Cap 231EX and want some thing that would really be competitive for IMAC in the 80-100cc power range. I am NOT looking for the best Model, i.e. Extra, Cap, Edge, I already have preferences on that, but rather the Manufacturer. The Extra featured in Model aviation looks nice, but I don't know if I am the ambitious. I do prefer Wood construction but am open to anything.

Who makes the best 33-35% plane?
I just ordered the new Carden 35% Extra 330.
I think it will be an awesome plane. Good balance between IMAC and 3D DA-100 for mine. |
Carden 35% Extra 330S
Carden, they know you want them to fly. :D

Who makes the best 33-35% plane?
there a LOT of good 35%'s out there. I have preference to the Extra myself. I am very impressed with my Radiocraft 35 extra. flies the sequences very smoothly. If you can find one, grab it. Hurley extra looks like a good pick, anxious to hear flight reports from the ones being built by RCUers. I do think however that the 35 Carden Extra will take the cake once some of them get out there and flying. sorry I am not much of a 3Der, but any of the above are more than capable of any and all manuvers.
good luck Hubb |
RadioCraft Extra
I have to agree with Hubb. The RadioCraft Extra is an awesome machine. I flew one thoughout all of last year in Advanced. This plane rolls so smoothly, snaps cleanly, and grooves in rollers. I haven't done any 3D with it, but I understand that it also excels here. Mine has a DA-100 on it with KS pipes. Wonderful flying airplane.
I'm sure the Carden Extra will be a winner, too. But it is still a bit early to know much about it as only the prototype has flown. Ken |

Another vote for Radiocraft here. Everyone has thier own likes and dislikes, if you have the opportunity to see/fly the airplanes you are interested in, it sure helps figure out which one is the right fit for your style. That said, you'll likely be happy if you stick with one of the proven manufacturers, Carden, Radiocraft, Aeroworks... they're all great....

Who makes the best 33-35% plane?
I've got a couple of 33% planes - H9 CAP and Sukhoi.
They are wood/covering type planes. My criteria for the next plane is built in cavity for in fuse cannister (ie KS) and fiberglass/carbon. Thinking of 3W PW 35% 300X or Fiberclassic. Thinking the longevity of fiberglass must be much longer than wood that is getting shaken by a big gasser. Anyone flown both wood and fiberglass models ?? thanks mike |
Who makes the best 33-35% plane?

Is there a web site for wild hare R/C? I think I remember seeing the Ad, $900? |
Who makes the best 33-35% plane?
Hello,
Our company was the first to offer a 35% Extra 300s plane in 1994. Our pricing for this IMAC and 3D ready plane is $599.00 plus shipping. www.aerotech-rcmodels.com for more information. Thanks John |
Who makes the best 33-35% plane?
Any airplane from a big name manufacturer is going to be great (with a few exceptions of course).
I'd like to throw in here Troy Built Models, and Columbo Anderson, for their VERY nice 35% Extra 260 and 34% Extra 300 respectively. |
Who makes the best 33-35% plane?
Carden probably!

I would go with a Troybuilt Extra 260 or the Fiberclassics 35% extra 330L Don at Planes Plus will take care of you on one of the fiberclassics call him before you were to order one from the other company selling these planes. Just my Opinion. here is a pic of a Troybuilt 260.

Who makes the best 33-35% plane?
Why pay for a box of sticks. wood and foam for 800.00
when you can get a FC for 1000.00 and not have to build it or a troybuilt with the bulk of the building done for 1195.00 and both are better airplanes than the Cardens. Also they are not tanks as in heavy. This is my opinion and I know others who will agree. Steve Hill |

Who makes the best 33-35% plane?
Exactly shill, hit it on the head!
Also the C.A. planes are very nice kits; with wings and tail pre-sheeted, you only need to put together the fuse. Not bad for $400, and they generally come out as light as a Troy Built. |
Carden quality

So who makes the best 35% out there? There certainly are lots of good options and the Carden Extra MIGHT be one of them (don't know, only 1 has flown as best I can tell). But to say that the FC and Troy Built are better planes? That is a matter of personal preference, but I can tell you that I'll take the Carden any day. Ken |

Here's what you get for $995. Laser cut lite ply and balsa construction, aircraft ply firewall and gear plates (with aluminum angles on the gear to hold it all together), plenty of room (and I mean plenty) for canister mufflers, probably the easiest plane around to put cans in. Covered in Ultracoat, assembled with Epoxy and CA (no hot glue), firewall thrust angle is preset, firewall is tab-and-slotted into motor box sides so it's not coming out. Here's the neat part. It's all set up internally with all trays and mounts to accept dual receivers, three different rudder servo layouts, dual 32oz fuel tanks (gas and smoke), switch mounts installed. You can put together a professional quality airplane with no glueing other than the hinges. The plane is styled much like the 40% Carden Extra with the rounded cowl, but the rudder is more Extra looking. All the control surfaces are enlarged for great 3d performance too. I know this sounds like a commercial, but you guys should give it a look. It was meant to be a next generation version of the Radiocraft Extra and at a lower price, with more features, and finished (not just ARC) it's an excellent value. Shipment due in to US end of April. Who makes the best 33-35% plane?
Hi Tom,
thanks for posting your info. I am a big fan of the Radiocraft and are aware that they are hard to find new. this plane looks like a good fit to replace it. will you offer it as an ARC at sometime or better yet will it be offered as an all white or solid color version? how long is the listed price good for? I am not in the market right now, but perhaps later in the summer or at the end of the season to replace the Radiocraft. will anxiously await flight reports Hubb |

The listed price of $995 for the Extra will probably hold for a while. Here's another picture that shows the top vue better. Tom Fawcett Wild Hare R/C |
