Pitts vs Ultimate Comparison

I have an Ultimate I love. I just was wondering from those that know. Is there any real difference in the flight characteristics between a Pitts and the Ultimate?

If you get a big Pitts, like Exclusiv Modelbau's 48%'er (or some big %) it will fly beautifully.

Since it's such a short coupled plane, anything below 33% would be a handful unless built perfectly and very lightly.

In terms of how one flies to the other, I would think the Ultimate would fly more like a typical monoplane and the Pitts flies more like what it is, a little bipe.

The Pitts flies more like a scale plane and is not as 3d capable as the ultimate but with the right set up you can do some 3d stuff.

The Pitts is beatiful I've owned two, a Cermark and a GP, and from my experience the bigger the better if you want one get at least a 33%.

hope this helps.

Pitts tend to have a lot of cross coupling, which make them a handful to fly precision aerobatics. That's the reason you will not see a Pitts at the TOC or anywhere in Imac competition.

The Ultimate was designed to minimize the cross coupling.
