Lanier 33% Laser 200
 

Looking for what different engines everyone has used on the Laser 200?? The Laser we just got was set up for a 445, but was thinking about a Brison 6.4 if I can fit it in:eek:

Just test flew this plane today for a fellow club member.
Has a 3W 106 with a 26/10 Beila prop.
After fine tuning the engine, amazing POWER, and yes it RIPS the prop.
Recommended to change to min of 27" or a 28" prop.
He is concerned with prop clearance, also said a 3 blade and bigger wheels.........

I was concerned with prop clearence on the 26" prop and if I would have any problems. Out field is about as rough as you can get:eek:

I had one with a BME 80 twin, and it had insane power. I couldn't imagine it with more. Most I have seen fly are set up with Z-65's.

We have 4 in our club. They have G-62 and 4.2's. This one was set up with a Z-445 when it has built, but need just a little extra punch.

Is it the kit or the ARF? I have had both and they are excellent flyers. The kit had a 3W70B2 in it and it flew great. I had the ARF version with a Zenoah GT-80 and then replaced it with a 445. The GT-80 was the best in that airframe. it fit inside the cowl and had plenty for that plane. The 3W70 was good in the kit plane although it was heavier. I dumb thumbed it into a cartwheel on take off. (reversed ailerons)
I must say that the Laser 200 is one of my favorite planes and I now fly 35% Aeroworks Extras and YAKs. the Laser is hard to beat. Just don't forget the strut wires on the stabs.

Good luck with whatever you decide to use. I'm sure it will be good.

I would like to see Lanier or whoever owns it now, come out with the Giant Laser again.

The 60cc to 80cc class engine is ideal for this model. You can put more in if you wish, but why spend the $ to do so? It you choose to put more in it than the 60cc to 80cc, then go with a twin clyinder engine or you will shake the airframe apart. These models fly fantastic. [sm=regular_smile.gif]

It's the Kit that has had all the plastic replaced with glass, wood or foam.

Right now we are going with a Roto 70 or GT-80. Have to see which one has not sold by the timewe get all the $$$ together:D

Can someone send me the drawings and instructio for this plane to Germany. I can get a kit, but it has no plans or instruction.

I love the laser I've been meaning to build another I up graded my old one to foam parts and a zdz 80 instead of the old g62. have yet to fly it

i had one i flew basic and sportsman with for a couple of years.it had a zdz 80[old style].flew great. i dont think you will need anymore power than that. 26=10 prop

I build one a few years ago it came in at 16lbs flying weight I put a brison 3.2 plenty of power flew great wire broke on switch end of plane.
