Flutter is a strange animal.. It's hard to predict..

Remember that Chip and Mike have been flying this basic design since 1993. Flutter hasn't been an issue on any of these.

Light and stiff is the key to flutter prevention.

I just ask, because if its anywhere near like my goldbergs or DP Ultimates, you can flex the tips pretty good.

Do you know if the plane would take a tuned can setup or just regular mufflers. I have a QS 150 with cans if that would be enough motor for the plane.

I've been trying to find out about that myself. I don't know about the cans yet.

One set of pipes that will work in the Ultimate are available from Dalton Aviation (727) 393-3212 and are Precision Carbon Fiber Exhaust Systems.
Weight is 11.5 oz

That is the same wieght as Pefa or MTW. If that is the wieght of each.

btw I double checked the shop backorder list and it did have a date of 9/20. I placed the order on the first day the plane was annouced.

I wonder how much my 3W headers and cans weigh? From looking at the online manual, think they will work. If not, oh well, will just have a loud ultimate :D

Servo Size?

I was wondering if the Futaba 9206 servo on 6v would be a good substitute for the 8411's.
I think that Horizon should give a discount on the 8411 servos to us since we are buying the Ultimate and it needs 14 of them!
What do you say Horizon??
I got a reply to a email saying the first shipment would be in port by mid July and that they give that a margin of error of 4 weeks.
Merry Christmas everybody. HA HA I hope not! I am pulling for July.

I don't know what the 9206 has for torque on 6v so I can't say. I would think if it's in the 160+ range you should be ok.

Torque

I think that they have 132 oz with 4.8v and 160 or so with 6v. I plan on using the match box and a battery dedicated to the servos.

??

P.S. what do the 8411's have with 6v?

Eldon,

8411's on 6v are right at 188.

I like the 5945s @6v, 181oz, .13 speed, I also like the 5925s, only 130oz @6v but .08 speed.

I thought it was about time I registered and got onto RCU, so this is my first post.

The Ultimates are about 2 weeks on the water, so the delivery date of July 10 is pretty close to accurate assuming the ship dosent sink.
Sorry for the delay on these, but I wanted be be sure everything was right. I think it is.

Hope this helps clear up any misunderstanding.

Counting the days

Mike, Did you see my name on one of those??? I ordered mine at my LHS and I was wondering if you know if the planes that have been shipped will be enough to cover all the ones ordered now or are they coming in several shipments?
Thanks

As of right now, we have just enough coming to cover all of the back orders. Also, remember this isnt a limited production model per se, meaning we will continue to make them as long as there is sufficient demand for them.

However, as I mentioned, you should get yours from the shipments that are on the way.

Mike, I assume your using the DA150 in this? How does it perform as far as verticle? would a 200cc class engine be better?

Yes, the DA-150 is perfect. While it'll accomodate a 200, no I dont think is necessary or that it would be better. The vertical power with a DA-150 (32 x 10 Mej prop) is excellent!
