Rhino Jet Engine Time of acceleration/deceleration
Hi,
The data of my Rhino Jet Engine is as follow: 1. VER 3.7 (I..C.S. version); 2. Number: JF170-0040 3. The parameter is “E.G.T. 580 Auto+1 ramp 002 acceleration delay 075 deceleration delay 030 stability 050.” Now I have tree questions. 1. Time of acceleration took 15 seconds to arrive “full power.” It is too long. 2. Full power RPM was just up to 114000 3. Time of deceleration took 15-16 seconds to arrive to “idle (RPM 33000).” It is also too long. Please help me figure out the questions. Thank you and I look forward to your reply |
RE: Rhino Jet Engine
Hello:
I have forwarded your inquiry to our manufacturing facility for review and reply. You do not mention the temperatures your getting during the acceleration process. We will need your PW reading at idle, 1/2 and full throttle. Also, which ECU battery are you using? Last, the thermocoupe (EGT) depth must be checked as well. In too deep and throttle up will indeed be slow. The depth should be no more than slightly less than 1/16 of an inch. If it is not secure and moves easily, this must be corrected as well. Dear Eric:
My friend's Rhino still got previo0us problem. The temp. probe position is o.k. and the acceleraion /deceleration still took more than 10 seconds! He installed this Rhino engine in the new F-22 and will test fly this weekend. We indeed need your help to resolve the problems. As you know, the abnormal acceleratin /deceleration will result dangerous flight. Thanks for your helps! |

RE: Rhino Jet Engine
Try setting stability delay to 005 then run engine to full power, allow to settle there then come down to idle 1 click at a time allowing the rpm to stabilise at each new position. After this procedure you should have correct performance.

CPS. . .
Please review the PM I sent you with detailed instructions to follow. I sent this over a week ago. Your ECU has an old version of software so many of the new test procedure do not apply. Again, please review and email me any questions. I will do what ever I can to resolve your friends problem. Best regards, Eric Clapp Jet Central Micro Turbines |

Dear Eric:
Thanks for your answer and I am sorry for my ignoring your letter due to my busy mail-box.I and my friend will try your methods to test his engine. Thanks for your help again! |
RE: Rhino Jet Engine
Dear Eric:
Thanks for your help again! My friend adjust the parameter under your suggest(acceleration reduced to 12 and deceleration reduced to 8)and the response time of his Rhino has redduced significantly(about 7-9 sec.).I show you present parameter of his Rhino last time of test after adjust the parameter as your suggest: PW Temp Idle 078 450 degrees middle 119 412 max 610 450 Do you thick the engine is normal ?Is the temp too low for this engine, will it result in flame-out? Thanks for your help again! |

Everything looks good. I sent you a PM with additional information and settings to try. You are on the right track ! Thanks, Eric Clapp Jet Central Micro Turbines Lifetime Warranty |
RE: Rhino Jet Engine
Eric,
Setting up a Rhino, reviewed the programming instructions several times before programming the radio. I can't prime the fuel system. When I increase the trim to "UP" and puch the stick up, then push the menu up, nothing happens. I can't seem to get the LED light to turn on either. What could I be doing wrong? I tried a different battery, same thing happened. Thanks in advance, Sammo |
RE: Rhino Jet Engine Time of acceleration/deceleration
Sammo,
Sometimes the buttons on the Hand Data Terminal can be a little finicky. Try pushing the button a little harder or moving the button a little while you are holding it down. Just a suggestion. |

Sammo:
Got your email. I look forward to speaking with you this evening. It sounds like the transmitter/receiver is not trained properly. This step must be done properly. Be usre all "Throttle curves" are REMOVED from your Tx throttle channel BEFORE you train the 'Transmitter. You can check the results by viewing the percentages of Low Trim, High Trim and High throttle stick. If trained properly, Low trim should read 00%, High trim about 900 and full throttle stick about 1900 +/-. Also note, if you do not read these percentages, your throttle channel may be reversed. . .I know this is all entry level, but I find we all can overlook the basic's sometimes. . . Best regards, Eric |
