Fail Safe Setup
I have a Futaba 9CHP and a HP5, I am trying to setup the fail safe feature and I am unable to get it to work properly. the 9CHP will not allow you to change the value for the throttle setting. it is set to 25% and can not be changed, this poses a problem when trying to setup the failsafe option.
also what is the correct procedure to set the learn r/c option for the HP5, do I just set it by the trim lever? or do I use the normal setup procedure? what sets the governor mode? we really need Documentation ASAP. Alan... :D |
Fail Safe Setup
Are you saying that the failsafe on the throttle is permanently set to 25%, and can not be changed at all? That doesn't sound right at all. Have you verifed it with Futaba, or does it say this right in the manual.
Just curious, as it really doesn't sound right. |

Alan... :D Hi Alan, Let me take a crack at this. First, the heli ECU has only one input used, it is marked "Throttle" or "THR". This connection goes from the ECU into the AUX channel you will use on the RX. Normally this is a knob, but it could also be a 3 position switch. As you are aware, the collective stick only controls the collective pitch on the HP5. The knob for the channel you use to control throttle (I cal is AUX, sorry for the confusion) is handled like the throttle normally is on the ECU setup. So on to the failsafe... On your radio, set the AUX (throttle) channel ATV to +/- 100%. Now set the failsafe for this same channel to "low" (low is whatever direction you want it to be when you are done, be it a knob or a switch) Now reset the ATV for the AUX (throttle) channel to +/-75%. Now do the learn RC function. It should prompt you for low, mid and high settings for the throttle. These should correspond to the desired settings of the control you selected for the AUX (throttle) channel, be it a switch or a knob. Unfortunately I do not have access to a heli unit to confirm this last step, but I am pretty sure it does not ask for trim positions and the like. Good luck, feel free to ask any more questions. |
