If you can get the 11X in the international variant (which I think you would, not being a victim of the Horizon Hobby camp) and it is modular, I would say that either would be a good pick, since you would not be stuck with DSM. If you *DO* get the HH 11X, then I would run, not walk, to the A9, since the 11X will be forever crippled by non-modularity. I think either will fly a heli just fine . . .

I think it depends on personal preference. Myself, I would prefer the touchscreen on the A9, since I am on a JR 10X, and feel that the JR roll&click wheel is a huge step backwards, but that is personal preference . . . I haven't programmed either the 11X or A9, so really can't comment much beyond that . . . . JR generally isn't too bad once you are used to it, although a lot of folks think the A9 is easier. To me, the best software out there is Multiplex . . .

It was enough of a step backwards that I am no longer a JR driver...and that is with 30 years of flying only JR stuff....sob

I solved the problem by just staying with my 10X's . . . I still haven't found anything they won't do that I want to do . . .

RE: DSX11 vs HITEC AURORA 9
I still fly my JR 10SX on 72 but I couldn't find a 10 or 12 channel 2.4 modle to plug into the back for 2.4 as I needed it to fly at some of the large shows I go too. I did convert my 9303 9 channel to 2.4 with no problems.
I now have a "brand X" 14 channel that I use for all my new warbirds with touch screen.

I think that you will find that the JR won't do 10 channels in anything *but* PCM - IE go to PPM with the JR module and a JR RX, and I think you are limited to 9 as well . . . and since the 2.4 modules take PPM, that is why you never saw anything above a 9 channel . . . .

I remember seeing a Modular version of the JR 12X, at the Toledo Show. It supported 2.4 as well as 72Mhz modules.

HH doesn't seem to carry the MV of the 12X anymore...
