Spektrum DM9 in Vintage JR Century 7 Transmitter...
I recently refurbished a JR Century 7 Single Stick transmitter, fabricating a replacement stick base on my 3D printer. He transmitter works perfectly on 72mhz.
Acquired several Spektrum DM9 modules for this and another vintage JR transmitter. The photos attached illustrate the modules.
Attempting Bind with AR8000-X and AR600-X. Using 6v NiCad pack.
Module 1A/B will not bind with either receive. Initiating the bind process has the rapid blink at the Rx, then powering on the Tx in bind button mode. The Rx led goes out, then slow blinks 4-5 times then off.
I don’t have DSM2 Rx’s to try to see if it binds with them.
Module 2A/B Binds with both Rx’s and drives servos properly.
Modules have different I.D. markings externally and internally. Module 1A/B has Ver. 2.2 sticker, Module 2A/B has none.
Is there different firmware that may be causing the non-binding?
Can I try something else with 1A/B or is servicing required (I presume Spektrum still services the DM9).
Suggestions appreciated.

Yes, different hardware and different code.
You'd have to check with Service to see if there's any support available for the DM9. http://www.horizonhobby.com/content/...service-center
I have the heli version of that radio. It's looking for a new home. Comes with a 72MHz module, though.

An update and future reference when using the DM9.....Horizon Service checked out the DM9's and pronounced them fit and working fine. However a note on the repair invoice says newer model DSMX receivers will not bind/work with the modules. My experience is some will, some won't so if still using the DM9 all you can do is try binding. Along this line I tried binding with a recently purchased NIB UMX Timber and it connected and works fine.
So just try and see what happens.
