Default Battery change in 12x transmitter

I would like to change the battery in my JR 12x transmitter which is about 12 years old. Is there a risk of losing my programmed model settings?

Thanks for any advice.

If you are referring to the 9.6v battery within the removable case/cartridge, no, you will not lose programming.

Check the bay item 181434975342 for a 1000mah Nicad replacement. Easy to open the cartridge and solder two wires. This is virtually the identical cartridge to Futaba 9Z transmitters except for reversed polarity in the charge receptacle. I have replaced a number of 9Z batteries using these with excellent results. Your existing JR charger will work fine.

Good luck.

DO NOT BOTHER with replacement NiCD batteries. WAY old school and the newer Eneloop type batteries are twice the capacity, don't develop memory, self discharge is virtually zero and they last a really long time.

There are several battey vendors who will put an Eneloop pack together for you and as Dick said, they come with two wires you solder to the diode board exactly where you remove the old pack wires.

I got my last 12X Eneloop Batteries America. Packs for older tx's like the 12X are made to order so it takes about a week, but the prices are good and the workmanship is excellent. NoBS batteries is another good vendor for tx packs and lots of other types of batteries should you need something else.

Thanks for the replies and info. I replaced the original transmitter battery with eneloops many years ago. It was so long ago that I could not remember whether I lost programming when I did it. I'm going to intall a fresh set of eneloops that I purchased from Hangtimes Hobbies.
