RE: New JR Radio
Interesting about the RF issues. I wonder if the Neckstrap has any metal on it??-"connector"-I wonder if someone who has the LCD problem can use a homemade neckstrap without ANY metal in it??--Just a thought.

RE: New JR Radio
So far I have had a 2720 (7202) hanging by a JR neckstrap next to a metal rack, using a 1500 NiMh pack for about 2 hours, and so far no failure of the LCD panel. Mind you, thats without RF energised so will try it again now with RF on.
Sorry, temperature is a constant 72 degrees F.

RE: New JR Radio
Hey Danny,
I just tried out my new JR7202 Air version from Horizon. Now I have two JR7202 transmitters that go blank while flying. A second heli version and the new air version. I hope this is corrected soon. At least Horizon is paying the shipping.

RE: New JR Radio
I have a new JR 7202 (about one month) and so far the screen has gone blank on me 3 times. It doesn't seem to effect the transmitter otherwise but it sure don't give me a good feeling to look down and see a blank screen. Sure would like to get some answers........................Thanks, Tom

RE: New JR Radio
I've mentioned this earlier in the thread, but thought I would post it again:
Is the screen getting hot in operation, say a hot day or a bright sunny day with the system out in the sun? If so, that can happen w/ LCD's from overheating.

RE: New JR Radio
Dear Danny,
I have seen LCD screens go blank when they are directly exposed to sunlight. This problem is NOT related to direct sun light exposure or, the temperature, or the LCD contrast. I have returned two radios to Horizon due to this problem. I strongly recommend that you take one of those radios out for test flying, at least for half an hour and you will see the problem your self. make sure you use a neck strap. This problem is very random I have had days the LCD screen did not go blank at all. As I mentioned earlier, my third repayment radio works fine. I never had blank LCD display so far.

Yesterday was a mild day here, around 70 degrees. The screen went blank while I was flying. I have been using my 6102 during the summer, in temps well above 90 degrees and never had a problem. If 70 degrees creates a problem with this radio then the radio is way too sensitive to the elements.
Appreciate any help you can give us on this issue....................Thanks, Tom

I've done quite a bit of testing on this myself as has our service center and we are not seeing any problems.

RE: New JR Radio
I have an idea. How's this, can anybody having the LCD problem use a video camera to record the LCD issue??---Then send it to JR or this group??
Also--how about JR posting an Official post to the group understanding our LCD issue?
Please note--I am not being a bad poster, BUT something is wrong and it needs to be addressed pronto.
Thanks Stashu

RE: New JR Radio
Hello danny,
Now I am faced with a new problem with my third replaced JR XP7202 radio. Its been working fine since October to date and I have done over 100 flights so far. Last night when I was changing "airplanes models stored in the memory" (as explained in Page 32 in the manual), the radio got stuck at model number 5 and none of the function buttons worked. By power cycling, the radio came back on with last saved model setting on display. Again I tried to change the models, it stopped at number 5. Now I cant advance or see models stored in the memory beyond model 5. But if I go reverse, then it stops at model number 7. so I figured model 6 memory must be corrupted, that firmware in the radio does not recognize which causes the radio to freez. I cannot clear model 6 memory as the radio freezes up between model 5 and 7. Is there a master reset that I can clear entire memory, or do I have to send my radio to JR to fix this problem. Appreciate your assistance. Thanks Sam

RE: New JR Radio
I have not read this entire thread, so this may have already been addressed. Could this be related to wearing "Polarized" sunglasses?
Just a thought!

RE: New JR Radio
Hey Danny,
I just built the ultimate 3d foamy. I am using the JR r610ul fm receiver and JR s241 servos, JR7202 tranmitter and a JRPA024 neck strap. If you wiggle the neck strap clasp on the transmitter mount, it causes the servos to jitter a little while you are standing next to the plane. I am standing up and the plane is on a wooden table. I am going to insulate the neck strap clasp where it attaches to the transmitter to see if the LCD problem is static related.

RE: New JR Radio
Will this system work with my existing Futaba, Castle and Cirrus recievers? It sounds like the answer to my various freqeuncy's on my different planes.
I will wait till the LCD screen problem is fixed first however.

RE: New JR Radio
JR is not compatible with Futaba or Futaba compatible equipment. There have only been a couple reported cases of LCD problems, there is no need to wait, the systems work well.

RE: New JR Radio
Someone on the radio forum reported the same thing happening to his DX7 (which is esentially a 7202 transmitter).

RE: New JR Radio
The JR7202 is a great radio, much better than any other on the market. I have the heli and air versions and they are flawless(except for the LCD going blank). There have been no glitches flying all types of planes. Go ahead and get the JR7202, it has everything you need for flying and you don't have to worry about somebody on your channel.

RE: New JR Radio
If it is not compatible with all my old recievers then I will have to replace them all. I might as well consider the Spectrum system then. Too bad. It sure would have been cool to change channels and use it with different planes.
