Default Firmware Fix ?

" The following is an excerpt from the bottom of page 22 of the Spectrum
DX6i users manual
http://www.spektrumrc.com/ProdInfo/...anual-LoRes.pdf

Note: Receivers manufactured after July of 2007 offer a quick connect
feature that reconnects immediately when recovering from a low voltage
"brown out."

This new firmware exhibits a slow blink when the receiver reconnects
from a brown out due to low voltage. The slow blinking on the remotes
and the internal radios means that they think that they have detected a
brown-out. These radios support "Fast Connect" this is a new feature
where the receivers check the last connected pair of frequencies and
connect to them immediately. The LEDs flash slowly to indicate that this
has taken place.

Try connecting and then cycle the power. The receiver will connect
immediately. Cycle a servo whilst switching the power off and on you
will see that it hardly misses a beat.

Hi Danny, Can this Firmware Fix be applied to my AR-7000 receivers ?
And if so, what must I do to have it done ?

Thanks > Jim

you don't need it with a proper battery setup.

That is not an answer to the original question.

What is the proper battery setup? BTW: I don't think you are going to like the answer about being upgradable.

In the last 3 weeks I have bought a AR9000 receiver, two AR7000 receivers and four AR6100E receivers. I can't tell when they were manufactured but if they are older stock I sure do hope they can be updated to the new software release.

Hey Danny, glad to see ya back.

When you say to contact the service department, does that imply that they can do something to upgrade the firmware of the receivers?

You'd have to contact them for verification, however it should be possible.

Don't count those chickens so fast. Let's wait till we get support to agree it is possible and find out the cost if any.

Just got the same story from Rusty at Horizon. He said I could send in all 6 of my receivers. AR9000, AR7000, & AR6100E. Said turn around is approx. 4 days.
SWEET.

The AR7000's can be upgraded? Now, THAT really is great news!

I have two AR7000's. One reconnects pretty quickly, and one seems to take forever to reconnect. The really slow one isn't in a plane yet, so I'd say it is going to take a little trip back home!

I am VERY glad to hear this.

Way to go, Horizon Hobby!

Please remember this forum is not for open discussion but rather direct support. I'm letting this one go for now, but keep in mind that only myself and the original thread starter should be posting here.

That's the quick connect feature. It's great, no loss of control for more than a fraction of a second, if that. Your other test had a loss of maybe 2 seconds, which may be recoverable depending on your flight conditions. That's much faster than many of my lockouts and tests showed. I would guess that's about average for the receviers, but many of mine were 3-6 seconds and one was 13 seconds. Way too much time for a recovery.

I haven't had any issues with my X9303 system. I have the same exact setups that I had with my Spektrum stuff and no issues. BTW: got a new Sig P51B and they recommend a 1100 mah 4.9 volt flight pack for your receiver in their manual. The plane has 7 full size servos and one retract servo. If I put that on a Spektrum receiver I am sure it would lock me out at some point. I had only 3 or 4 servos and one retract servo on a 1500 mah 4.9 volt pack (the one that came with my radio) and had crashes.

I started a thread in the main radio forum, http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_6923021/tm.htm , to discuss this subject and not infringe on Danny's space. Maybe we could use that area. I am very interested in this subject as I have just returned my 3 R921s and 3 AR7000s for the reprogramming.

Horizon Service Center, of course. Look up the address at www.horizonhobby.com . And, if I wasn't here to tell you, you could find it in your radio manual....
