Spektrum DM8 Module Won't Bind to Spektrum AR636a Receiver
 

Hello all,

I just bought a new Horizon Hobby Night VisionAire yesterday. I'm trying to bind it to my Futaba 8UAFS radio that has a Spectrum DM8 module in it. I've tried a couple different methods, with the same results.

1.) Pressing and holding, and not releasing the bind button, then power on the radio.

2.) Pressing and holding the bind button, power on the radio, and then releasing the bind button when the flashing light on the receiver goes away.

Results are the same. the flashing light goes dark, then flashes 4 or 5 times, then goes dark again indefinitely. The receiver seems to never complete the bind.

I've done this from 6 feet away, and from across the room. No luck.

Any ideas?

I called Horizon today and they told me what the issue was. I had been trying to bind with the plane upside down, or nose down sitting in a chair so I could see the receiver. Since the VisionAire has the SAFE system installed, this positioning was preventing the receiver from binding. So once I set it on it wheels, the bind process completed successfully. This bit of information is not in the manual.
