Humidity/Dew Point and Thrust....lets talk
Ok, So this Monday we got some more flying in due to the holiday :)
But Monday was just a slight bit different. For the first time ever, I would have to say that the K80G seemed like she was missing a few lbs of thrust...Now mind you in South Texas it was 85 before the sun came up, but these temps I fly in all the time. But on Monday, the air was REALLY thick. It was patchy Fog heading to the field but when I got there the skies were clear. She didn't start running like a champ until the sun got up a little higher and burned the thick air out of there.... This is the first time the engine seemed to be holding back...but by the 6th flight she was humming like a cruise missle..... I tried to pull the weather history data to post some numbers, but NOAA wont go back past this morning. Anyone else have this happen? |
It's called "Density Altitude"and moisture in the air can affect it. Do a Google search and find out more than you might want to know.
