RE: ULTRA SPORT 1000
Just like the other two Ultra Sports, the best mods are to add flaps (about 1/3 of the aileron length and extend the ailerons out to the tips) and move the wheels out by one rib bay)
THere are lots of discussions on the US 40 and 60 if you want to research them
Here's a US60 build I did a while back:

RE: ULTRA SPORT 1000
Built mine a year ago & love every minute flying it. Saito 1.80 with flaps, & retracts out 1 bay as Minn had said. Its not a 3-d plane, but sure is a great plane to fly.

The covering your 1000 is amazing. Great job!
Minnflyer,
Thanks for the link to the US60....that will help a whole bunch...
Moving the gear one bay and adding flaps, good idea.
Now to start reading
What I'm trying to find out is can I mod it to put a Syssa 30cc gas engine in it.
Regards
CHuck

I realy wish they still made this kit. I would love to stuff a DLE 20 into one.

RE: ULTRA SPORT 1000
You might find one at the swap meets, plus there is one company that makes a foam wing for it, and another that lasers a kit (maybe a short kit?) for it. Don't ask me which ones, cause I don't remember them off hand. I'm sure you'll find them in search for ultrasport threads that mention the US1000 in them.
ETA: I did have a US1000, but I was never happy with the ST2500 in it. It just wouldn't run right.

Catspaw a 2500 is on the lite side for a 1000, I had an ST3000 in mine and even that was on the lite side. When I build another one I think I will use a DLE 30

RE: ULTRA SPORT 1000
Thanks for the compliments on the covering. I enter'd it in Monocoats covering contest & got third place. Always draws a crowd while at the field, & then when they see the bottom from the ground. I will typically fly for around 10-12 minutes then land. With a 16 ounce tank on board, I have maybe 1/4 tank left when I land. I do not fly full throttle for the whole flight, but throttle up & down through out the whole flight.

RE: ULTRA SPORT 1000
Hi Scooterpilot, was searching for info on the ultrasport1000 build and found your post. I have a NIB kit that I've had for 15yrs and decided to build it. Also have a ST2500 purchased back then, but am learning that it may not be enough engine. If you completed your build, can you share thoughts on how it went and which engine you used? Thanks for your help, Rich

Here's my US 60. OS .75 AX, Futaba Fasst with Robart machanicals. I built my plane with flaps also. Very fast and smooth! I know it's not a 1000 but I still wanted to show it off.

RE: ULTRA SPORT 1000
Welcome to RCU Richwill 11 You have done a nice job on your plane.. Are you having any trouble with the retratcts bending? I have A set of E flite electric in mine and they bend almost every landing...Next time I am going to skip the retratcs...I might try a set of struts though...If I do that my warranty is void but what good is it any way....

RE: ULTRA SPORT 1000
Hey Bikerbc! Thanks for the welcome. I am new, but I think you've got me mixed up with another member. My US1000 hasn't been built yet. I've been collecting info on items I need for the build, which will be a winter project for. I'd also heard for retracts you should have 3/16" struts and that the Eflights were a little on the light side for a 1000. Talk to ya soon, Rich
