***CUB BROTHERHOOD***

That sander should be an easy one to mock up. A good straight hunk of metal for the sanding block and a straight one for the guide, then a hunk of MDF or Baltic Birch ply would be all you need.

thought it was a Hangar 9 40 size so I ordered a windshield for it and I have another and at top of windshield where the wing slides up against it it's approx. 5 3/8 " wide or maybe 5 1/4". My other one is 5" wide. I guess I'll just cut this one and make it fit but sure would like to know what kind I have and possibly order a correct one. Or I guess I could try to mold a 2 liter around it and make my own. Never tried that before. I do have a good heat gun. BTY wingspan is 80 1/2 or 81". Bought it some time ago and hope to get it in the air.
thanks,
Jim

I built this Goldberg Cub back in the 80s and really enjoyed the kit, I did add the side stringer any my Cousin turned it into a Super Cub. She is still around in my room and doing well, built with Elmers Glue All and Epoxy where needed.
I would like to build another and see that Great Planes now sells this kit and it is laser cut. How does this updated laser cut Cub compare to the old Die Cut Cub?

I used my Tower Hobbies coupon and bought the laser cut version of this kit. It showed up today, fast shipping and I am impressed with the laser cut parts. I must say the parts are much nicer than what I had with mold Goldberg Cub from the 80s.

I picked up a 1/4 scale BUSA cub kit for my next build. I was wondering if anyone has used the H9 cub landing gear and wing struts on one of these planes? The H9 landing gear is about 1/2 the price of robart. I built the sig 1/4 scale cub about 10 years ago and I used K&S tubing for the struts. They turned out ok but were a pain to make.

Check the dimensions, but I believe that the Hangar Nine gear is too narrow, more suitable for the Sig Cub.

you can buy the Hangar 9 Cub struts separately. The part number is HAN4562. It comes with all the fittings and attachments etc. I am currently using a set on a Nosen Citabria 1/4 scale. Little pricey at $90 but all inclusive. You will need some blind nuts for the jury strut wing attachment mounts as well as strut fittings on outboard of each wing panel. I got some at local ACE hardware. You may want to replace the jury strut vertical pieces with 3/16 brass tubing for a more authentic look. The H9 ones have a lot to be desired IMO. Search the web for the "kit". There is a variety of places you can order. Horizon says due in March.
Good luck with build

I have bought 2 sets but made sure they were reflecting the Cub J-3 with all hardware pictured. I am not sure why they do continue to show a picture of the supercub struts for the basic same price without the hardware. I would imagine the struts are identical other than color.

i am getting ready to build the Sig 1/4 scale clipped wing cub and need some help choosing an engine. I have a Saito 100 four stroke, will that be enough power or should I consider a bigger engine? Any engine recommendations are greatly appreciated.
#4198

The Saito may fly your Cub, but you probably won't enjoy it, as it is a bit on the small side. If I were to buy an engine, I'd look at an OS or Magnum 1.60 twin, four stroke, but I like twins. LOL Someting 1.20 and up (4 stroke) will be a good choice.

My first Sig 1/4 clipped wing Cub had an O.S. 1.08 FSR engine in it. That was more than enough power on wheels and floats.
My next one will have an O.S. 1.60 FX in it. That's a bit more power with a bigger prop for increased thrust, so it should be a good match.
If you can install a bigger engine, you won't be sorry.
