Ray,
How do you like that Magnum 160? I been watching a thread on a magnum radial and the things they're saying about parts quality are a little discouraging. I'm interested in a twin to use in one of my new cubs. Currently have a couple of OS 120 bought a few years ago.

Could u pl. post the suggested deflections of the control surfaces on your 1/4 scale rigs.
I have a 1/4 Bud Nosen but no instruction manual and no mention on the plans.
Thanks

8D]Sign me up, I'm currently in the middle of designing a 30% SuperCub from 3-views and scaled up plans. Will be powered by a DLE 55 with 132" wing and 66" floats.

I have no document for the following, just my opinion.
Ailerons 1-1/4H 3/4L
elevator 1-1/2H 1 L
rudder 2 H 1-1/2L
Should be a good starting point, adjust to taste after flight.

Just to clarify, your "H" and "L" are high and low rates I assume. Some might wonder if you are showing airleron differential (more up than down) or more travel for the rudder in one direction...but propbly I'm the only one that had to read that a couple of times.

Cub Question, picked up a 1/4 scale cub with a 180 4S, want to switch to gas motor. What size of gas motor would be best for the cub? Great to be in the Cub Brotherhood, long time in coming......

Power up...HARD LEFT...tall grass...CARTWHEEL....repeat! Sometimes there are repairs required before the "repeat' part. I've torn the wing saddle and frame off my H 9 80" Cub many times, but it's still going strong.

Iβm running a Zenoah G26 in my ΒΌ Cub more then enough power. You may want to look at a rear carb engine so you donβt have to cut the cowl for the carb. Other then that I like the Zenoah.

To put in my 2 cents, I'm going with the DLE20. Haven't tried it yet, but from what everyone tells me it'll have enough power to fly well. In fact I've been told that it is comparable if not more powerfull than the G26. Just what I've been told.

Ran my Sig 1/4 size clipped wing Cub with an O.S. 1.08FSR on both wheels and floats. Way, way more than enough power. Your DL 20 will be fine.
In fact, on floats, with full up elevator and instant full throttle, the O.S. would haul the plane right out of the water without a take off run. Next go around, I think I'll try an O.S. 1.60FX.
The 1.08 was the largest 2 stroke glow engine you could get at the time or I'd have put in something bigger since I was initially concerned about being underpowered.

Thanks Charles for my coveted Cub Member #66!
Yes, this is growing faster that the National Deficet, but not as fast as the regular handful of fools arguing on the RCU AMA Discussion forum.

From our CUB Fly-in earlier this year. This was just a few to show the different size Cubs that were there. The biggest is the scratch built 50% powered by a DLE 170. The details on this thing are awesome.

Unless someone has an issue with it, I say lets talk about cubs on this post, just keep it about cubs and the first person to start an argument will be kicked out of the brother hood. No questions asked!!
For power for a ΒΌ scale.
I have a hanger 9 ΒΌ scale arf. It has a Zenoia G26 on the front had flies great. Running a 18 x 6 prop on it. Think I will drop down to a 16X6 on it has I have issue getting the plane slowed down enough and the engine not stopping.
My L-4 has an evolution G26 on it. Iβm running a 18 x 8 prop on this plane and feel it works great. Plane is about 17 pounds and this prop, engine is a great combination for that plane.
My modified sig ΒΌ scale has a zenoi G38 on it. Iβm running an 18 x 8 on it. Plane weighs in at a little over 18 pounds. I have plenty of power, I can pull it back and putt around also. This looks to be a great combo for this plane, but it has the power to.
For throws. This is an area that I never really setup as they say. I usually set at what I think looks good, and give it a flight.. After that I will dial them in more to my likings. I tend to fly with more movement then what is needed.
