I was going to go with that gear at first, but by the time I got to it, the price of the Robart was cheaper so I did what I had to do. The gear from Cub Landing Gear is more scale looking, but with the bungee covers on you wouldn't notice.

acdii- looking good! If you are interested you might cut stab in half then re-join it via aluminum tubes and dowels. This will facilitate covering to get the classic fin to fuselage fabric fillet. Once fuselage and fin assembly covered it is a simple matter to insert stab halves.

Thanks Cub Man... you have to contact Jerry through his email or phone#... I sent him an email with an inquiry... he has had some personal issues to deal with, and has let his stock of parts diminish... he plans to restock and make them available within a few weeks, as time permits... he's a real nice guy to deal with.

Check your PM,

John M,

OK after much research I resorted to checking with an expert and find my memory slipped a gear. I went down to my LHS and spoke with the owner. He remembers it came out when he was working at another guy's store before starting his own LHS. We were able to figure out the Goldberg Anniversary Cub came out for the 50th anniversary of the Pipe Cub that would make it 1986. The Goldberg Anniversary Cub was intended to be a limited edition kit was so popular they decided to leave it in the Goldberg line.

THANKS CARL!!!

I'm on board. I've got a Goldberg Anniversary Cub on the table, ready for covering. Also have a 1/2a Cub with a Thunder Tiiger .07. #204 Pleeeeze

I need to look at my plans to see what the date is on them. I may have one of the original sets. The address shows the old Chicago one on them. I believe I did get it in the mid-late 80's.

And I just remembered it was when I had a Cricket helicopter, because I was going to use the engine from it for the Cub.

Thanks guys for the research on the Goldberg Cub. I was wondering because my earliest memory of RC planes was at a field in Louisville and I'm sure it was a cub with a four stroke that looked like the coolest toy in the world to me then. It had to have been in the mid 80's. And the Hobby House on Preston Hyw in Louisville had a yellow one hanging up back then. I assumed later as I got into the hobby as a teen in the 90's those 2 cubs were Goldbergs. Well I'm building a Goldberg now. The kit is laser cut with the fuse sides and bottom router cut. It's going together well and has decent wood in it. Thanks for the heads up Cub Man. I'll double check it against the plan. I'm doing a build thread on another site if anyone wants to check it out.

Guess I need to join the Cub Brotherhood also. I built a Goldberg Anniversary Cub in the clipped wing version. She has no evil takeoff or landing problems, and flies like a dream. She is powered by an ASP 61 four stroke. One of my favorite planes in my inventory.

1986 sound correct on the GB. I bound mine while building me first plane. The Eaglet w a K&B sportster 20. So I saved and put a Sportster 40 on the cub. It was a natural 2nd plane.

On the GB Cub. I learned the e-flight gear fits perfectly and is functional. For under $20.00. Wheels work too. I don't know about the super cub cowl yet. http://www.horizonhobby.com/products...L4625#t4-PARTS
The struts look nice too.

Still haven't decided on finish to military or super cub yet. Leaning to super and adding flaps. May mod wing to a 2 piece. Looking at it as if so will add 3" to overall wingspan.

I have a 1/5 SIG CUb now in bright yellow waiting for me to get the graphics on order for it. I have a SIG Clipped Wing kit waiting for it's turn to be built. I had a Goldberg kit waiting as well, but I traded it and an Italian build NIB .40 Super Tigre for a partially complete Top Flite Corsair with full retracts w/robostruts and 4 new servos in the wings. I didn't have any cash and the deal was too good to pass up. The owner had been trying to sell the Corsair for a year and a half but couldn't find a buyer. Now the Goldberg kit and engine sold in 2 weeks! Not hard to believe is it? I planned on keeping the retracts and the servos but jury is still out on the Corsair the building technique is so-so. Still I think I did great when you look at the dollar value.

If you want an opinion I like the Super Cub idea. You might look at SIG's 1/5 Cub manual to see how they did the two piece wing for ideas. I don't know if this system would work on the GB Cub.

I will probably go back and pick up a new GB kit at some point I just have too many projects going right now. I have 3 short kits, 4 complete kits, and 45 partially built airplanes right now. (We won't count plans I have in my library.) At the rate I build that will take me a number of years to complete what I have on hand. But look out when I get caught up GB her I come!

Im working on a TF Corsair, .60 size. What dont you like about the build? It takes quite a few modifications to make it look right, but hasnt been too bad of a build. I also have a second wing kit for my 1/5th SIG Cub, going to make a clipped wing too so I have both versions in one plane(just need to make sure I have BOTH of the same size wing on before I fly, or it might become a very interesting short flight.

Hey Cubman, I would like to join too.
I have a old pilot ok models 74 in super cub I'm building. Almost done, it's been a bit of a bugger compared to busa kits I'm used too, but it turned out ok I think.
I tried sig koverall for the first time on this one. I normally use solartex, so it's a totally different process.
I was going to do a white scheme with blue trim, not sure what paints and clear coat to use, I'll be fitting a saito 65 fs.
Someone suggested automotive paints & clear coat, (I have spray equipment) are they suitable with doped fabric?

Moving along on my BUSA 1/3 Super Cub. Finished the aluminum covering on the boot cowl area, which is applied over the Solartex. Working on installing the aileron/flap servos, as well as the anchors for the wing struts. Powered by a DLE-60 twin.

I have used Solartex and finished it with water-based polyurethane and I have used Koveral with nitrate and then butylrate dope, but I have not mixed dope and urethane or dope and auto paints, which could be solvent based or water-based acrylic, or solvent based urethane.

I am refinishing my Sig 1/4 Cub that was/is Koveral/dope with water based acrylic, FWIW. But, I have a question: How do you all fit the flush fitted side windows as per full scale on your Cubs?

There are a lot of threads here on RCU about finishing; Suggest you do a search and see what is being used with what.

Thanks for hints on the windows fitting.

I have sprayed Rustoleum over Doped fabric and it took well. I dont see why car enamel wouldn't work. The Rustoleum I used came from the can and i mixed and sprayed it with my airbrush. I thinned it with Acetone, so it will bite into the dope.

I just added you as #206 see the above list.
For painting. I would say go latex but the only issue is you are running glow and it would have to by sealed. Whit this being said look at http://www.nelsonhobby.com/hobby_paint.php I used this on my cream cub the first round and was very happy with it, it can be made fuel proof and is easy to work with. My issue with Auto paint is $$$ and all the thinners and cleaning products you have to buy. I have done a little painting with dope but not enough to comment on it.
