These gear were build for the Wendell Hostetler Lancair IV. The were designed and build by Don Hehr. [email protected]> I have the partial drawings but not the full info as provided by him.

The building is going really slow..........I have been doing more flying this year than I have ever done before.....fortunately, not having to repair anything yet. What a great year of flying!

Sebo,
Will you be entering your Lancair in any Sanctioned Scale events? Or are you building it for typical sport enjoyment and flying? I just got back from a friends, who was helping me repair the wing to my KMP Cirrus SR22. It was a simple break and not to advanced of a repair. I still have some work to do but I would like to get it fixed and flying in the next couple of weeks. Spent most of the weekend cutting grass at home and at our Club Field.

Worked 2 more hours on it tonight..............No, no competitions.....this plane is modified so that it is unlike any that exists.....this is simply for pleasure and an excuse for trying fowler flaps and a couple of other things. I just like to build and try new things....new for me that is.

Thanks for sticking with me......I think I may have accidently drilled a hole in my fuel tank........any Ideas on checking it out........If it doesn't leak should I use it or go through all the trouble to remove it and install a new one.....It will be a real PITA to do that.
I was drilling the holes for my throttle cable and went in under the fuel tank by accident....scarred what I can see of the tank but I can't see the back part of the tank without removal.....Your suggestion will be greatly appreciated.....Ron

Sebo do you have an auto Miror? Or a scope? Sears sells a video inspection scope that will get into small places so you see them. Do take the chance on a potential problem.fix the tank no matter the PITA. You have spent a lot of time and effort on the build don't skimp now. Better to fix now than pick up pieces later.

Fill the tank with alcohol. If it leaks the alcohol will evaporate without causing any damage. If it doesn't leak then it is good to go but should be on your regular maintenance check list...

Yes, I do have one of those mirrors but it won't fill the need..........there is foam rubber all around the tank and it closes around the suspected place where the hole would be....
Thinking about putting water or fuel into the tank and see what happens....Any thoughts on that?.........I'm afraid that if I use water it won't all come out and I will end up with a water and fuel mixture.........darned if I do or don't!!!

Sebo, looking good! I am laying the plans out again this week so I can re-start my build. There are lots of things I will need to work on, such as where my servos will go in a fiberglass fuse.

I finally got back to it last night........took 2 1/2 hours to figure out how to install the elevator servo and install it.
The weather turned cold today......had been in the mid 80's but dropped to the upper 60's today.....good building weather.

Sebo,
Would it be too late and difficult to add a hatch/slider plate to be able to access the fuel take with ease, for future repair and/or inspection. I added a crude one to one of my plane and it proved to be quite useful, additionally I added a slotted window to be able to view the fule level. Similar to the sunroof on some of the older model nissan maximas.
