After well over 100 flights on my Contender I have decided to swap out the .61 4-stroke for a .75 OS AX 2-stroke.

I think the weight of the 2 engines is very close. DO you think this airframe will handle the speed from the AX engine? I want more speed out of the plane.

Only one way to find out LOL!

Nice plane Anthony, I think it will be my next build after I finish my Ultrasports. I think the vertical performace should be good.

Calvi.

I have the engine and I will swap them out in the next few weeks. I will let everyone know how the install goes and the difference in the flying characteristics of the plane. I am guessing it will be really fun.

Well I went and did it, after well over 100 flights on my Contender I dumb thumbed it into the ground[:@]

I tore the whole nose section off of the fuse from the front of the wing forward. I think it is repairable but not in the short term. I crossed over to the dark side and went to the local H/S and bought a Hangar 9 Twist 60 with a new OS .75 AX installed and digital servo's installed ready for TX/RX. Well so they said. I have spent the last 4 hours re-doing everything and fuel proofing the firewall and fuel tank compartment.

When I decide to dig the Contender out I will post the repair.

Here is a pic of my replacement for the Contender.
Not bad for $350, Plane, engine, servo's and RX Battery. The engine cost $230 new.

It happens to the best of us, sorry to hear that. Don't worry about going to the dark side, I've been eyeballing that Airfield T-28 foamy.[X(]

The Foamies are neat, a guy in the Club just flew his P-51 today. Sequencing doors, retracts , nav lights and 4 blade pop. Looked pretty good in the air.

I have the Twist balanced and charging now. Will try it out in the morning.

Well I have to say I am happy with my 1st ARF. [X(]

The plane is a blast to fly. One click of up trim and it was flying hands off. The engine has enough power to hover and pull out(Barely). After tweeking the needle and a better prop match I think the performance will improve. All in all a good day of flying.
