Super Hotts CG
Balancing out a Super Hotts. I have been working on my SH for about six weeks now (almost done), time to get it balanced before covering. The CG shown is at the spar, is this where the Hotts likes to be? Do they like being nose heavy? This my first and have never flown one before. Any help would be helpful. Thanks Eric

So you were tail heavy, did you balance it out back to level at the spar? If, yes, how did it fly? I'am nose heavy, need to add some tail weight, just don't if Ishould balance it back to level at the spar? Thanks Eric

RE: Super Hotts CG
I had a Super Tiger 90 on mine, dead level @ the spar. It was a little nose heavy. It flew fine. My S/H liked to be flown aggressively. It would do anything I wanted. I would get plenty of alt., throw it on high rates & hang on. On low rates it would be fairly docile!! It was my favorite plane. good Luck !!

Mine is at 3.5 inches from the wings LE and also has a YS 110. That is where I have it marked anyway but I have added lead to the stab to move it back a little. When it flat spins the nose is down but when I get it nice and flat it turns into a real hand full in normal flight. The 110 does tend to allow me to just point it up so I can get the altitude I want. I keep getting told I'm going to fold the plane in half the way I fly it but it has been getting flown hard for over 7 years and still with me. The Mid West Hots is a bit over weight compared to the one built from plans but it's very strong and easy to transport with the wing removed.

Wing span on the Super Hotts ("60") size is 54". I built this from a short kit, Lazer Works out of Witchataw Falls TX. Quality of the wood is very nice, I would buy from him again. I'm going to add 3oz to the tail, that will make it balance flat at the spar. Will post some pic's when I'm done in a couple of weeks. Thanks for all the feedback, Eric
