Default Aileron Push Rods ?

OK, I took a break from my Sig MK II build and played around with an Blade MCPx.. WOW, that thing is fun !

Anyways, I just have a few more steps to go on my 1st kit and have a simple question.. On the Aileron push rods, do I make them the same length and use a round servo arm with the off set holes to get some differential ? It makes sense to me, but thought I'd ask. I'm just using a single servo for my trainer also.

Thanks, Bill in Indiana

I use the arms, as they have holes from the edge inward that will do the differential for you.  Wheels are okay, and you can drill the holes where you want on them.  But generally, I just throw the wheels into my junk box and now have a ton of them that I never use.

Yeah those wheels can add up I too have a stock pile of them. Wish I could turn them into quarters

BillinIndiana,

Perhaps there is something I do not understand from your writing.
If you are using a single servo to operate both aileronsplease see posts #7 and #8.

The length of the rods does not change their linear motion.

Bill, you can get the aileron differential throw by offsetting the servo arm holes. Set up the controls with minimal slop; I've had flutter because of the loose aileron linkages. I use two aileron servos now.

Yes, you can (and should) make the aileron pushrods the same length.  You may also use a round servo arm with the off set holes to get some differential, or you can use the "X" servo arm and use the two adjacent arms (kinda "V" shaped) to do the same thing as long as a 45° offset angle is OK.

I did look at the Sig Mk II construction manual and it is a little unclear about how to set this up.  Check out Great Planes PT-20/40/60 manuals if you would like a similar installation.

Hope this helps.

Hello,

The drawing in post #7 shows how aileron differential can be set up with the horns on the ailerons.

I plan to add to this drawing to show how it can also be done witht the arms on the servo.

Editing to add a new drawing.

It appears that Bill is not returning to the thread to acknowledge the help many have offered.

It is not always worth our efforts to help.

Perhaps he is away for a few days ?
