Default Travel Air Mystery Ship kit??

Looking for 1/5 scale, short kit or better. Anybody know where I can find one?? I really think my Saito 120R3 would feel right at home there...

You might be able to find a Fred Reese 1/5 scale kit out there somewhere. I beleive it had a 70" span. Kit was released in 1987 by Golden Age Models.

The AMA has plans and a very short kit for 60 inch version.

There was a guy that was producing 1/5 scale glass fuselage along with plans to a built-up wing and tail. I got one a couple years ago, but don't know if he still makes them. I'll send you his contact info in a pm.

Update- I found Jack Swift plans from Scale Plans & Photo Service, and Fiberglass Specialties makes the cowl & wheel pants for those plans. 69" wing. As soon as I get the plans, I'm going to have Camden Custom Cutters slice some wood for me (laser cut), and will start a build thread.

Its gonna be fun!

Got the resin parts from Fiberglass Specialties. I really dig the wheel pants' distinctive shape. It's quite a cowl, haha

Check here:: Pete's Hobby Center http://www.peteshobbycenter.com/index.php?cPath=1
The owner acquired the rights to to Fred Reese's last kit designs and offers both a 1/4 and 1/5

Yeah, I've been trying to get him to make me one, but it's been two months of "I'm waiting for my lazer cutter to get started, to get the parts to me, etc". He's a very nice guy, but I'm not going to hold my breath

No worries- I'll make do with these plans if I have to!

I am afraid I understand your concerns. Am still waiting to hear when I can expect replacement
of the FG parts missing from my Reese STA kit. Good luck!

Default Who sells it now?

OK joined this a little late. I think Pete's has closed. Anyone know if they sold the rights to someone else?

Well, the good news is that I have a 1/5 scale short kit with the building instruction booklet, but the bad news is I have no plans to build from. I have the capacity to measure all the components in the short kit and create drawings and/or CAD models of them, but the kit is pretty worthless without plans. Does anyone have the 1/5 scale plans I could get a copy of? Digital or paper, I'd be thrilled to get a hold of them. I'll pay well for any expenses and time to get some sort of copies! Even the 1/4 scale plans would help since the builds are nearly the same... I'd love to see this great aircraft move on from just a ghost on the internet and become a more popular build! With a copy of the plans and a copy of the short kit parts (balsa, fiberglass and metal bits), this could bring it back!

Let me know if you can help. Let's get this plane in the air!
