I'm writing to the b'hood in an effort to obtain some original SIG plan-sheets for my SIG history website, the front page of which is at https://wanderings-ds.jimdofree.com/
As far as I know, this website is the ONLY complete record of every kit that SIG has ever put out, or a kit from another manufacturer that SIG has ever sold. They're all here.
I will not ask for presently active kits - those are still being sold by SIG and are under active copyright. I won't put them into the website. HOWEVER, long ago, SIG dumped all their paperwork, plans, booklets, decals, etc., for kits no longer in production. If anyone has these plans that I am missing and would be willing to scan them, I would be VERY appreciative.
I have the listing for the control-line and free-flight kits that I am missing. Some are listed as "Berkeley". Those kits, I have the Berkeley plans but not the SIG plans.
A very few kits have "???" - does a plan-sheet even exist for these kits? I don't know.
Anyway, here's the list of plan-sheets that I'm missing:
Control-Line
CL-1 Spitfire
CL-2 Warhawk (Berkeley)
CL-6 Bearcat
CL-7 P-47 (Berkeley)
CL-8 FW-190

Have you hit up the new owner of SIG? I met him last year and he is really into getting the company back on it's feet. Unlike the previous owner who bought it more as a hobby, the new owner is serious in the company. He might like what you are doing and ask around if any of the old stuff is still around. Never know, they have rooms full of old stuff there.

You may be able to find some of these plans on AeroFred or Outerzone plans. You would be surprised how often kit plans show up.

Yeah, I check both every week. Actually they're where I've found many of those that I already have.

Geez, I like both versions - but I think I like your new one better.
You must have had a lot of fun removing all that black and not showing any of it under your white.

Hi guys!
I've been gone a long time, I know. Christmas had come and gone again and yet again I find myself with another kit to build. It's not a true Sig, but a Herr Aquastar this time. Due my current location and circumstances, I am compelled to convert this one to electric. My question is, what brushless motor and prop combo should I be looking at got this one? Have any of you built one of these? Have you converted to a brushless outrunner?

News flash: SIG as we know it is no more!
I just received the latest email newsletter from Old School Models here is an excerpt:
Secondly, our supply of CA hinges has dried up and it’s taken a bit of time a negotiation to find a substitute. I’ve found another supplier that I hope will be a good replacement.
But the biggest problem has been the loss of Sig Mfg. There's a lot of rumors going around as to what's going on with them - well I can tell you that as of 1/31, they have ceased all manufacturing and what's left will be an importer of ARF kits, moving somewhere up in the Chicago area. That's a shame, as there's a massive history and knowledge base that's apparently going to be lost. As you may or may not know, I purchase a good deal of items from Sig which are included in our own kits. Some wood, landing gear (music) wire, nose gear assemblies, etc. Their shutdown has sent me scrambling to find other suppliers. I'm well on the way to solving some of these, but let's just say it's taking ALL of my free time to make sure things are still shipping on time.

Hello,
I’d like to join the brotherhood. Many years ago, I built a Kobra as my first Sig kit. Regretfully, I ended up selling it but it still flies locally. My stash consists of a Ninja, Smith Miniplane, Somethin Extra, Wonder, Kougar & King Kobra.
I recently purchased what I believe is Maxey Hester’s prototype Akrobat! See for yourselves. It was acquired from Sig’s development dept before they shut their offices in Montezuma and ended up at my LHS. Knowing its history it’s in remarkable shape. I just had to have it. The question is, do I fly it???

I would like to be included in the brotherhood. I built a 4* 40 years ago and flew it until my dumb thumbs put it into the ground. I love how these planes go together and have almost completed my SSE in 4 days. Only the rudder and fuselage to build and on to covering. This is a wonderfully built kit.

A Spark of Life From SIG
Just out of curiosity, I checked the SIG website today and found a spark of life. There is a Holiday greetings there along with a short message. At the bottom of the page, a new Des Plaines, IL address is shown. That address is a commercial location so maybe, just maybe there will be some kind of future for SIG.
