PorkChop are you going to do a building thread on the Riser 100? How about doing one and posting a link here? Inquiring minds want to watch!

Toledo was just a bit too far to go for an afternoon "meet & greet". Then again, most things outside the Pacific Northwest are that way unless those that live up here have lots of vacation time or are retired

While many from my club were in Toledo, Saturday, a few of us were at the field.

A new Kadet Senior Sport was maidened, and had 6 successful flights. A friend had his larger T-Clips and I flew my Rascal 72.

Still waiting on a break in the weather to get my first flights in. The winds are just way too much for first flights, especially maidens.

It's been pretty much that same story around here too, except I've been able to put a couple of my old war-horses up quite a bit, even in the winds. My CG Sr. Falcon does just fine in anything up to about 20 mph and my SIG MidStar-40 is pretty much the same. Of course, ground handling is a whole lot dicier (usually near impossible in heavy winds with both planes) but once in the air they're both a lot of fun to play with in the wind.

Still, EVERYTHING else sits in the shop until the winds go away and I wouldn't even think about a maiden in this stuff.

Just remember, in July & August we're going to be looking back fondly on these breezes. I just wish it would stop raining.

I am soooo mad right now. It was a perfect freaking night to fly and I had to take my car in for service, got home too late to get any plane loaded with enough time to even get an engine started, let alone take off.

However I have a couple nice Logo's from mike for shirts. I am going to get some quotes on two types. T-shirt with log on the back, and a Polo with the logo embroidered on the side with Brotherhood in an arch over it. Once I get a price schedule, I will post it here and see how many are interested in purchasing one or a few. I will also see what it takes to have numbers added.

We had a quartering wind at around 10 mph, yesterday. It was just enough to blow my Rascal off course, while shooting a touch n go.

I smacked a safety fence. Repairs should begin today.

Ouch, Tom! Doesn't look too bad though - could be back up by the weekend.

I'm planning to put my Kadet & Sr Falcon up today to awhile. Need to spend a day out of the shop and away from the dope fumes. Yeah, out of the dope fumes and into castor exhaust - LOVE IT!

Thanks, Dave.

The repair shouldn't be too difficult. I should have the wing repaired today, but I'm waiting on a roll of White Ultracoat.

While waiting, I hope to maiden My kit built Kadet Senior Sport and my Ace 4-40.

My Rascal C is in for repairs after a bird strike while on approach. I passed over a bird in the weeds and spooked it!

Your episode may be harder to take, Mike.

Mine was under my control, and I blew it.

I may have my second hand Kadet Sport ARF read to maiden by tomorrow. If so, I may maiden it along with the models I mentoned above.

Geez Tom, sounds like a great day to me - 3 birds in the air is always a good way to spend a day. Yeah, I'm definitely in the stands, cheering for that kit-built Sport. Looking forward to a review on how she does.

My own day out with the planes looks like it's gonna be on hold. Winds came out of nowhere - can't even work on the Stratus outside, they're so strong. Oh well, just means the first coat of clear goes on in the shop with the storm door open - definitely not the first time that's happened.

Sheesh!

Mike! A bird strike? Ye gads!!! That's one that's never happened to me (lucky ME) yet. I've had eagles & hawks chase my planes before (always a whole lot of fun playing with the feathered birds) but they've never gotten one of my planes ... YET!

Well I always looked at crashes whether caused by own dumb thumbs (most common cause) or by outside assistance (Don't help me! Please!) as something to laugh about after a time. The time required for it to turn funny just varies. After all if I built the airplane I should be able to fix it. It's just that sometimes the pieces are so small a new kit is required!

Well ducks on the nest startle real easy sometimes and it was my own fault for being to lazy and flying up at church rather than go to the flying field. I knew we had ducks nesting on the property I just found one the hard way. The Rascal C ripped the gear loose and broke a wheel pant and prop duck was unscathed.

Sure know what you're saying there. And sometimes the pieces are so small they make a better 1000-piece puzzle than even a kit.

Been lucky. That kind of scenario hasn't happened to me in a long time.
