Pretty cool, there are a few folks somewhat close to me.
Well, the covering is going along slowly, I am really nervous that I will not have enough to finish the bottom wings and may not be able to get any more because of this danged covid 19 mess. GAD ZUKES!
I have 1 new roll left to cover both 48" lower wings.
what kind of paint works on this stuff? I have a nice airbrush and even a hvlp unit if needed, but with out any hobby shops close by anymore I need to improvise? Ugh..

Keith, I painted my planes Laytex paint from Lowes home improvement store.. It cheap and easy to apply. You can use a brush or hvlp spray paint gun. When you get the that stage Let us know so help you with advice. The pictures of my 1/3 scale Pup posted earlier was spay painted with the paint from Lowes.

Spray can paint or regular exterior type house paint?
I never thought that stuff would adhere well enough?
as soon as I get the lower wings done I will be ready for paint.
I will need to get some tape for masking too...

I think the best way to go is the laytex from Lowes exterior/interior. It is easy and the cheapest way to go. These 2 of my planes that I painted with laytex and minwax clear ((water Base) to seal the paint I have had the planes for almost 10 years. Still looks good. Also painting is the lastt thing you do with the plane then install the engine and radio gear.

When you are ready to paint let us know so we can help you.

I have a question, what do you folks do for pilot figures? $ 175 for a doll is pretty pricey!

Keith, if you plan on painting the alum. siding, you need to ruff it up a little, Sand lightly with 300-400, sand paper. As for the pilot check the net "RC Pilots" Maybe Tower Hobbies.

I may need to build my own and sew up the clothes for him ? I do have a pretty fancy pants sewing machine I barely know how to turn on, lol but being a real frugal individual, I just might give it a shot while waiting for my fuel tank and servo extensions to arrive.
If anyone has any patterns they want to share I would be grateful?

Well I decided to assemble the plane and get things aligned before paint. Now I need to make some cradles to hold the wings as assemblies for transport and storage.

Default Balsa USA 1/4 Scale Fokker DR1 Manual

Hi I have just acquired a partially started kit of the Balsa USA 1/4 Scale Fokker DR1. It is complete but missing the build instruction manual, I have ordered a new one from Balsa USA. with the current restrictions on travel and postage I think it will take quite some time to arrive, as I am itching to start the build I was hoping some one would have one they could scan and send an electronic copy to me. can you please let me know?

EME120 and a power box for the servos along with a few extra goodies like 1 meter servo leads and saftey clips for connectors. I am impressed with them for sure! I will definitely use them again for my big plane goodies.

I sure hope everyone is well with this pandemic virus going round? I, myself have been lucky so far.
only good I see is my pup has a much better chance at getting finished before the crops need harvesting, sucking up any spare time I might get saved up.
I have finally reached the painting stage.

Does anyone ever use a charge jack receptacle, such as the Ernst receptacle, as mounting point for the aileron leads?

Never have. It could work, but I like see & feel a solid connection when connecting the ailerons. Some i put a keeper on the connects.

Ok, how do you apply latex to the plane? With a brush or roller? Does it need to be thinned a bit? I have no idea? Never used the stuff on a plane before?
