Well the Rascel flew great this weekend. Wound up moving the CG back another inch which lighten the airplane up by 2 pounds. Also started using the flaps. About 10 degrees worked great for landing. Also flew so much one wheel came off. Made for an exciting landing.

Default Should i?

I want to build rascal 168, however I am concerned about all the negative comments. I am fine with adding struts, but what concerns me are all the comments about being just too heavy.l, and requiring a huge engine. I took the heaviest weight listed. 44lbs, and added the biggest nose weight 8 lbs to get 62 lbs. That's 832 oz. With a wing area of 3,710 sq/in. That puts win cubed loading ofv6.4. Well in the middle of trainer class wing loading. I cannot see the issue here. That said I don't really want to purchase a huge vengine. Does anyone have more info about this?

You would be happier with the Rascal 110.

I was thinking there was a 110 kit at one time in addition to the ARF. I would like to know what draws you to such a large project with all the hassles on that big involves?

I have built two 168’s and they flew excellent the first one was powered with a DJ 85 the second one is powered 3W120. First one was 48 pounds the second is 53 pounds. You are correct even though the 168 comes out heavy, the wing loading is great on the good side. The only problem is transportation you will need a vehicle that can transport the 9’ long fuselage. There is an option to make the tail removable I recommend this highly my second 168 has the tail fixed and proves to be a little bit of a hassle to move around and to transport. And other questions just ask.

Yes
Bob said once that with the compound taper in the cord and and span. It was hard to make a kit. At least that’s what I thought he said. Don’t quote me on that.

I built the Rascal C the wing was a bit of a task, not a beginner's kit at all.
