Default Phoenix Aurora (PH188) Aileron Control Horns too Large

I'm starting build of an Aurora PH188 ARF

The included instruction booklet indicates that the flat attachment plate of the aileron control horn should be able to fit entirely within the thickness of the aileron. However, I found that flat plate of the control horn included in my kit is 0.665" wide, but the aileron itself is only 0.575" inches thick. The control horn does not fit onto the aileron.

Has anyone built one of these, and have any wisdom to offer?
