RE: What's YOUR winter project?
I have two projects on the board. The first is a 1/5 scale Proctor Nieuport 11. If you have never tried one of their kits you are really missing something. They go together like a fine Swiss watch and are dead on scale. You can also get carried away with the brass and instrument detail. There is a gentleman with a post on rcscalebuilder.com who even fabricated a working compass for his DR1. If you like WW1 planes check his plane out under the Proctor heading on www.rcscalebuilder.com. The Nieuport's tail, back portion of the fuselage, and wings will be done in Sig Koverall with rib stitching detail while the front of the fuselage will be glassed. The plane is powered by a Saito 100 twin with a full detail Le Rhone rotary engine mounted on the front of the Saito. This project should be completed this winter.
The second project is a Ziroli Dauntless done in the 3 variant. The plane will have working flaps, dive brakes, and bomb drop. I am going all out on this one with full cockpit detail, panel lines, rivets, inspection plates, hatches, etc. This project requires some kit modifications since the drawings are not dead on scale. Also have to devise techniques to hide the control linkage since the plans call for most of these to be exposed. Although the basic fuselage, wings, and tail feathers are framed up, and the flaps and dive brakes installed, this will end up being a multi year project.

More than I'll probably get done! Finishing up a Goldberg Cub right now, next is an Eagle II, just picked up a Venture 60 (beautiful wood and cutting!), and to provide homes for a couple of engines, a Seniorita and an LT-25. If I get bored after all that, there's a Sig Hog-Bipe in the box.

I'm building a 1/6 scale Spitfire from the Pica kit. I'm going to install a Laser 80 engine and currently not planning to install re-tracts or flaps.

RE: What's YOUR winter project?
I have a Great Planes Patriot on the board right now. The Spring Air retracts and Jett-50 engine are sitting on the shelf waiting to go in and I plan on bashing in a set of flaps.
After this little project gets done I have two more goals in mind, one is to build either a flying lawnmower or a snoopy doghouse and the other is to scratch-build a trainer type plane.
Of course there is the Flair D VII thats been coming together over the past 4 years and the Great Planes P51 Mustang thats in the painting stages, this better be a long winter!

RE: What's YOUR winter project?
I'm building my first plane from plans- a Krier-Kraft bipe from RCM's plans. So far I've got the fuselage completed, the cowl built and I'm ready to start the wings. At the rate I'm going, I'm going to need to start thinking of another winter project. I'm also building a few SPAD HORS for first attempts at combat next summer, that should be fun!

RE: What's YOUR winter project?
I have a Laser Arrow in the works, of course since it is really only a wing, and not a complete plane, I would imagine it won't take me all winter to build it. Also have the Hangar 9 Corsair to put together, but there again not something that should take all winter, or maybe it will with my building speed.

RE: What's YOUR winter project?
This week I'm building an Ace Simple Ultimate from scratch much lighter and improved. Next week I start on a 1/4 scale Pushy Cat from plans. I'm covering and putting cockpit details on a scratch built Citabria from Pilot plans. The pilot is the last touch for My GeeBee Dreamer Bipe. The radio gear and covering are left on my Mini Sukhoi designed by Nick Ziroli.
Just covering or painting are left on my Aerotech FW190, P51, Tower Fun 51, and Cheap Fun .049.
Just finished an AKM Sukhoi 26.
I plan on starting one more this winter, we'll just see how it goes.
