What kit would you like to see re-released? I thought this thread could be used to coerce the manufacturers to possibly bring it back out.
My 3 that I want to see are the:
(1) GP Tiporare
(2) Sig Liberty Sport
(3) Top Flite Kwik FLy III

Midwest 40 and 60 sized Hots, as well as the Ultra Hots. Fantastic line of planes period.
I'd also like to see some of the Sig kits revised and revived. Liberty Sport, Komander, a new improved Kougar without the plastic turtledeck, and especially the Ryan STA -- always thought that was one of the prettiest planes out there - just a heck of a lot of work needed to get it there.

Thats Easy........
the Ugly Stik, or any one of its clones. One of the most popular sport airplanes in the history of R/C and nobody is cutting any kits.[

I'd like to see all the old Midwest Aerobats re-designed to be lighter.
I've built the Extra 300S and the Giles 202. I have a Cap 232 NIB out in the shop.
The Extra came out at 17.25 pounds with a 50cc gasser--and I got mad and sold it on ebay to a guy at sea level. I did a LOT of stuff to lighten it up--and I pride myself in building light. But 17 pounds at 6000' elevation is nothing more than a powered brick.
I have just finished framing the 27% Giles at 72" wingspan. I replaced ALL the balsa sheeting in the wings with lightweight contest grade balsa. I built my spars out of balsa with CF strips, instead of the spruce spars. I've practically redesigned the whole fuse--from the wing saddle back.
I've been trying like heck to get it as light as possible. I doubt that it will weigh under 11 pounds--even with everything I've done to it.
I want to build the Cap 232--but after building 2 of the Midwest kits--I'm not real motivated. I know that it will take a miracle to get it under 15 pounds with a 50cc gasser. It would take contest grade balsa everywhere I could use it. And it will take a complete re-design of the entire fuselage. Lite-ply doesn't exactly build out light--and the whole fuse. is lite-ply.
I just want a builders kit without any hardware. It needs to be an aerobat in the 80--90" range for a 50--60cc gasser. I don't care WHAT it is--Extra, Giles, Cap, Edge--whatever. It needs to be built up--I hate foam. And they need to weigh 13--15 pounds RTF.
I wish someone would make kits or ARFs for high altitude fliers. Low air density and high wing loading is not a good mix.

Many of the domestic kits and airplanes noted are in one format or another being duplicated.
Problem here is that they have to be done in the sly. I know that several of the current kit manufacturers hold all rights to a couple of the noted designs. Firms like Dumas, Estes, and Great Planes in one way or another hold rights to the manufacture, and have lately been vigourously sending out letters to the pirates to cease. Per last talk with a couple of these, they all have plans on bringing out updated kits, but when they do not state. Airtronics sold off all rights to a couple of obsolete kits recently. They will be thus coming out again, but under another name. Others like Royal kits, were made for a while then the line shut down about one year ago, due to lack of orders.
This whole subject was beat to death over at the Vintage section about one year ago. One new Vintage firm mentioned the re-introduction of a couple models. By the end of the week they received a nasty (warning) note from Dumas and from Estes. Best thing is to hope from a firm no longer in business, and one which did not sell off the line to another company.

Wolff Pak Models - Thrush! But in a .60 size. Prefab in that kit allowed it to be built without plans in just a couple nights if you stuck to it. I have a .40 size kit that I got off e-bay. I'm thinking I'll template all the parts and enlarge to a .60 myself!
