Default gear door hinge & spring

Ok I'm trying to fiqure out where to buy or how to make a spring loaded hinge for my nose gear door on my Byron F16. I know you used to be able to buy one, but also seen home made spring loaded door's with a wire below to close the door when the retract's went up. Any suggestion's? Thank's K

If you use the Sonictronics offset hinge with the integral control horn, all you need is a rubber band. Install one hinge with horn on each door. Connect a rubber band to both horns. The tension of the rubber band holds the doors open. When the gear retracts it pulls up the rubber band which closes the doors.

Vince, sounds like a slick and easy set up but I'm not quite visualizing it. Got any photos or diagrams? Does the rubber band go accross the opening?

I scanned an image from the innstruction manual for my G&P P38 that details one way to do it. The retract strut is in front of the rubber band and when it retracts rearward it pulls the rubber band down and with it the gear doors.

Time to open an old thread...

I'm trying to use the suggestion as shown in the pictures, but the doors only close 1/2 way as the rubber band is pulling it open.

I cannot figure out how to get it to close completely.
