Just picked up two Combat Gremlin kits, but dont have any of the instructions or plans. If someone could post a picture of the plans or instructions for the templates and "How To's", It would help. I dont need full size plans.

I still have the original article that was in RCM. PM me with your address and I will send you a copy.
Here are a couple of pics on how I set up the servos & linkages from the orig. plans.

I sheeted them with 1/16 balsa and covered it with monokote. Also in the first pic. the arrow is pointing to a bulkhead that I installed. The canadian gutter pipe that I used was thinner and twisted more than the American Genoa pipe. By adding it, the fuse was stiffened considerably.

I still have four of my Gremlins. (Sheeting the wings just adds weight. Flexible is better. In fact covering them was not an original plan.)
However, that was for plain bearing 25's so have at it.
The throws are best set at max of 3/8" up and down for the elevator. Then 1/2" up and down for ailerons. The sensitivity will depend upon the CG. Set it at 1.7" from the LE and it will fly like it is on rails.
Rearward CG's and/or too much elevator throw can and will allow a spin if elevator is slammmed in. Low throttle and 1/2 down elevator will get you out of it, maybe!
Regards,
Eric.

Eric,
I just received a copy of the origenal artical you wrote for RCM from Ysrcflyer, Thanks to both of you. After reading, I can hardly wait to get mine in the air.
Thanks,
Goplaneman.

Eric:
I sheeted mine to get strength (YS 45 for power) and I like to MonoKote. The tip about snapping into a spin is very true-I corkscrewed all the way in but only doinked a wingtip and broke the motor mount. I have cartwheeled them with minimal damage. BTW my latest is not used for combat! Coming down in a high speed dive and then across the runway is awsome!
Thanks for the last 10 yrs. of fun!

Maidened my first kit today, Not so good. The CG was set at 1.6 with a empty gas tank, and the throws were 3/8 Ele and 1/2 on ail. I went ot do a loop, and it snapped out and did a death roll. Bent up the fuses, so I had to cut another one. The wing on this was covered with RS nylon, and I belive it pulled up from the LE on the right wing thus causing a parachute effect. The wing is now covered with tape.

Hey, when you get bored with the stock Gremlin, do what I did, cut the wings down to 38", put a .46 on it and use metal gear servos and have some fun.
I did get some flutter on the high speed passes and covered the gaps in the wing/ailerons wint some 3m clear tape. The metal gears and tape did the trick on the flutters.
With a .46 magnum unlimited vertical and very high speed level passes.
Didnt cover the wings with balsa, added a balsa LE and TE and then covered with Monocote and shrunk it with light heat.

Man, I got one of these on Ebay almost 2 years ago and just put it in the stack of kits I have. I might have to dig it out and build it after seeing this thread. Got an MVVS .26 Combat Wombat that needs a home anyway.
Hmmmmm.

Good to hear you got your's up and flying! Lot's of fun, arn't they?
Sad news on mine, Had reciever problems on mine Saturday-trying to land as it was very errattic on the controls, it rolled inverted and then went to full up elevator 20 feet off the ground in a split second. Broke the motor off and one fin. Oh well, I needed a winter project.
Went to pick up plane and all controls were going crazy-I touched the antenna and they all stopped. Let go and they all went crazy again. Have to figgure out what is causing this.
Take care, glad I was able to help covert you into a Gremlin maniac!
