Please: Could you guys help me Identify and find a kit as close as possible to airplane in the photos I am posting here? It may have been a very popular kit 50 years ago. I think I have seen one like it in photos someplace...but cannot remember where. My relative wants me to restore it, because It was her Dads who passed away. I think it may be more easy to build a new one and put the landing gear of old one to new one. Kinda keep it older looking with colors used in them day. The wing-span is about 43 inches. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Capt,n

My Feedback: (91)
captianjohn......It's a Sterling Kit "Super" Tri-Pacer, built in the 50's & 60's. It was designed to be flown either control line, or three channel RC. One way to tell if it's an earlier model is by the cowl. The earliest models had metal cowl's, whist's the later versions had the ABS cowls. I think the plans can be had from John Pond. (now AMA) The last Tri-Pacer models offered by Sterling was in the 70's and boasted an 80" WS "Piper PA 22". Occasionally one of the original kit's can still be found on ebay. Just do a search. captianjohn......... That's it I'm sure. If I remember correctly, the Sterling kit I'm referring to was around 4' and later they sold an 80" WS kit, that Cliff Weirwick designed and flew quite a bit back in the 70's. At that time, Cliff was the owner of the "PCM"(Proportional Control Models) line of Radio's. Cliff later joined Phil Kraft, (Kraft Radio's) and the PCM line became the "Sport Series Kraft. Finally Cliff went on to Airtronics. I'd still like to have a 90" model of the Tri-Pacer. I think Hostetler, or Ziroli, make a 1/3rd scale which I still may build one day if I live long enough to finish with about 20 others I'm working on.
