Wow! Page two and I haven't even got the kit yet!

Meanwhile.................

Attention support group. Attention support group.
I'm sitting here by the door waiting for the UPS truck to appear!! UPS deliveries usually happen in my area between 3:00 and 4:00 PM. I know UPS "tracker" said, "Deliver February 7" but they were kidding, right? The're going to deliver today so I will feel really good about them taking only six days to get it here!!

Meanwhile, Charlie. What size do you recommend for posting photos on this forum? Roger said 600 pixels in the long dimension. I did that with the previous post, "166 miles to Fort Bragg" but it seems small compared to what I see elsewhere in RCU. I'm trying to tune up my posting skills before the big event!

Thanks.

Back to foot tapping........ [>:]

I've been uploading 1600 x 1200 Big Boys directly off my PC by using the "Click here to upload images and files!" on the bottom of the message box when posting. The image selection up in the fonts & such selections limits the size more, but when pulling off the photo service Photobucket it works (usually) and I think those are 400 x 300.

Set up a road block of flaming tires for that UPS truck.

UPS guys are like Santa Claus but you have to put a six-pack on the porch instead of cookies on the mantle.

Well, Ron, at least they come to your house. In the winter I have to go into town and pick up my UPS packages at the Texico stataion. They won't come up my driveway. FedEx has four wheel drive trucks for their winter deliveries and they just drive right up to the door. Alas, UPS only has the two wheel drive trucks.

I never use the tracker untill they are late. It would drive me crazy to watch the package crawl the last 100 miles or so. Tomorrow will be a better day, I hope.

Good news!

UPS called today to say they are looking for my lost Robin.

Meanwhile, I have the OS .46 AX and the Custom Bisson #1000 muffler assembled!

Ron,
Can you turn the carb around? It looks like the throttle hookup might be tough with the muffler sited like it is. It will be interesting to see the engine mounting sequence. Not a lot of room to install the moter bolts.

Looks good though, are you going to break it in on a plane or on the bench?

That ROBIN sure is living up to it's reputation for slooow flight, STOL must mean something about extremely slow shipping. Sure hope you get it soon and post some pics.

Tell me about it!!

I have not wanted to plug up this Robin Build thread with the long, painful, sad, story of how UPS lost my Robin but...

Take heart. I got this e-mail from MosquitoBite Planes yesterday:

I got the call from UPS today. You are now officially our first customer to have lost a kit through UPS. The paper work to send out your replacement kit will be here in the morning (so they say). Once we have that in our hands it will be on it's way to you. With that your kit will have "red carpet" shipping - in the sense that it will be marked as "Don't loose again".

It's really sad we had to wait this long. I could have driven it to your house by now and we could have been building it on the kitchen table!

Let's hope this never happens again. I will let you know when it leaves.
So, gentlemen, the clock has been reset and the shipping of the second Robin kit is about to commence.

Hello Robin People! Nice to find this forum, and hope to join in. Got my Robin Kit the other day for a 30th Anniversary present - is that a great wife or what? I had signed up on the waiting list and then kept dropping print outs in places she would be with subtle hints like ---I WANT THIS KIT!!!" suprisingly it worked!! I've been tring to follow Andy Lennon's articles for years, but ususally he get so technical he loses me. As I read about this kit I thought it represented a culmination of alot of the work he has put into model design for years. Ken has also been great in getting us information about the kit and sending a photo for my wife to print out before the kit got here.

Now to opening the kit. Completely unlike ANY other kit box I have had. PLAIN BROWN BOX. no art work, no advertising, nothing, nada. Then inside....a thing of beauty. It even smells good, carefully packed, fresh balsa with subtle scents of the laser burns..kind of like sipping a nice wine. intracely cut parts, 2 large, rolled, full pages of plans, a detialed instruction book with pages and pages of pictures. On the website and info for the plane they talk about this being a kit for an experienced builder and flier. I have been at this for 15 + years and I think I agree. Beautifully cut and packed wood, gear and even golden rod push rods. I'm a slow builder with other life responsibilities that get in the way of hobby time, but it looks like this kit is going to fulfill all of my exectations for it. Sometime you get what you pay for and it is easy and clear to see where the money is in this kit. I hope others enjoy theirs and much as I already have started to enjoy mine and expect to enjoy throughout the the entire process.

Best regards from South Florida, Doc

Welcome Aboard Doc,

I'm glad we finally have a discription of what's in the box!!

I've been dying to know since the middle of January!!

I still have not received a confirmation of my Robin being sent. I guess Ken is still waiting for UPS to send him the insurance check.

Sarah at six weeks!

Let's see if i can get a few more. Glad to help you get ready. If there is a correct way to say this, I'm already getting value out out of this kit just from the enjoyment of looking at it and planning the build. i have to get my OS 46 AX & Brisson muffler. Have you decided where you are going to put the remote glow starter plug? Doc

Flying Foot Doc,

That sure is a big box of wood you got there. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, please upload more pics of the future ROBIN from the balsa forrest in a box. What else is provided in the kit and what is required to complete the kit?

Guess what!!!

On March 5th at 4:23 PM and seventeen seconds the mailman delivered my Robin!!

It took two tries as the first one was lost by UPS. This one Ken sent via USPS and by golly... it worked.

Looking Good!!

It is going to be an interesting build!

With an interesting wing!
