Hey people...
Im looking for some sort of "training" or a guide for building RC planes...
Ive actually built a plane before but never got to cover it (long story). I just want a refresher.
Ive seen alot of plans around but really none of them give you instructions as complex as something like building an RC car - i mean as in step by step...
So if anyone knows of a site that will guide me through - cutting and marking, gluing, pinning, clamping, shaping, covering etc etc then please send me a link or point me in the right direction!
Cheers!

Buy one of the Great Planes kits. They have excellent instructions, include tips in the instructions for how to accomplish most things. The GP CAP 232 40 kit is really good for a first time builder, but make sure you are a good flyer before you take off. It can be a real handful on maiden!

RCM used to have a Fl;ight Training Course book that was in depth. I think their books are still being sold via Traplet. Also Harry Higley's series of books are very detailed. I think these are available through Model Airplane News. There is good information here, if you can get past the petty arguing which is very previlent and of which I have been guilty of!
I agree with bkdavy, most kits have pretty good instructions and are clear on how their plane should be built. If covering has you stymied, there is downloadable video of doing this right here on R/CU. Generally, a "Sticky" at the top of a forum topic.

What you are asking for would be a great tool, especially for those who are visually oriented (you know, show me once types, like myself). I would also say that the above suggestion of going with one of the Great Planes or even the Goldberg (Eagle) trainer kit can give you a wealth of information, since the instruction manuals are usually quite detailed.
However when it come to covering, they really don't go into detail. Some of the videos such as those listed above might make it easier for you, or you might see if there are any experienced guys in your area who would sit down and give you a teaching session. Would also be a good way to develop a friendship which would make it even more enjoyable.
Good luck

His video on landing gear is up for "Supporting" Oscar.

ORIGINAL: rc-sport
There goes Mike....pushing his covering video again
Isn't it nominated for an Oscar this year?
