Default Ultrasport 40 versus Ultrasport + 40

What is the difference between these two planes. I have read so many good things about the Ultrasport, I was going to get one, but then noticed the + version. I know I need to act quickly as the Utrasports are going fast.

Thanks,

Rob

Get the original Ultra Sport. They made some changes for the "+" version that I just totally didn't like. In fact, I was building one earlier this year and was very unhappy with the way it was going together. When I found out that the original Ultra Sport was re-released I took the plus off of the building board and threw it away. [X(]

Thanks Ken. I figured there must be something up with it as there does not seem to be as much excitement about it.

Ive flown both and like Ken said the "+" is NOT an Ultra Sport.
Its a fair plane in its own right but it doesnt fly like a real
Ultra Sport nor does it build like one.

I built an Ultra Sport + and I like it, is a fast, agile and very stable plane, and I enjoyed the building process too.

I really don't like the plastic cowl on the ultra sport +

I'm currently building one of the original ultra sports that i got when they re-released them this past summer. I built one over 10 years ago and it was one of my favorite planes, I wish i didn't crash it after only a dozen flights. The build is very easy and straightforward and doesn't take much time at all to build.

Is the "+" version still in production?

The Ultra Sport plus is still being sold. It is a pretty nice plane. It went together pretty good for me. A couple of mods to the landing gear placement, different tail wheel assy. And relocating the fuel tank. Still a pretty nice build.

Just picked up the Ultra Sport 40. Haven't opened it up yet. probably not for a few years.

Could someone be specific about what they don't like about the US+ as an airplane? In what way does the older version fly better? I like the looks of the + much better, so I'm wondering what the drawbacks are and if they are correctable. Thanks,
Jim

Hi, Buzzard bait. Personally, I have not flown the original US, but the US+ is a very nice sport plane, capable of advanced maneuvers, (point rolls, flat spins, K.E. loops, etc.) and some 3D. It is IMHO probably one of the most advanced sport 40 size kits in the market.
