I just ordered mine last night. Can't wait to get started on it. Does anyone have a drawing so I can play with it in the paint program to come up with color design? And, here's one that should get a few answers Any suggestions on mod's?

Hey all thanks for being patient. I have not had a lot of time to build. Yesterday I got the Vertical Stab built and the rudder also. Tonight I am going to finish up hinging and doing some sanding. I just found out that my motor has just been shipped. I think that will give me even more drive to get this PNP built. He are a couple picutres to show how the Vert. was built. Keep watching for start of the wing build. I think that will be the most fun part.

My engine finally arrived today. Here are some pictures of the initial break in run. I have also attached a link to the short video of the run. I am sorry again for the slow progress but the ENGINE WORKS. Kind of putting the carriage before the horse but it is fun. Here is the link [link]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhDEaSqgz4Q[/link]

Not at all. You actually build the fuse on a different set of plans. You actually build up on the plans for the fuse. So all is good. Hey by the way how is the Desert treating you. Be safe and keep checking back. I think I am going to be hitting the build hard soon. See ya. MARK

How do you like that 4 stroke, how is the break in compared to a 2 stroke. Computer Nazis over here have Youtube blocked.

Looks like fun. I've rebuilt mine twice, and it's still a great plane. Read this thread for some more thoughts [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_1020388/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm]http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_1020388/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm[/link]

Nice looking workshop, too!

I decided to go ahead and buy a new set of Radios for this thing. I figured I would go ahead and buy new everything to hopefully ensure a long life span. Of course if something happens to it, it could never be my fault it would only be the equipment. RIGHT. Here is the picture of what I got. Also I have started the wing center I will update and add photos tonight. Thanks for all the viewers.

Wow they were right there is a WHOLE lot of carving and sanding involved with this kit. Yes it is part of the fun but t took me about an hour to carve and sand the trailing edge here are a couple pictures of that you might find amusing. I know that I did not while I was sanding but it turned out great.

Here is a photo of the almost finished product of the wing center section. I have completed all but the skin on the top and I will add photos hopefully tonight. I hope there is someone out there who is enjoying this thread I know it is slow moving but I will pick up the pace. Also my Radios should be here tomorrow. I always love getting new stuff. See Ya

Hey all,

I am sorry but I will not doing any building for a couple weeks. Just found out my brother in law is going to be having a tumor removed from his brain. Very hard to deal with at this time but we will be in CA for a little while and I will get to it soon so please stop back later.

All those who know me and are viewing this thread please keep a prayer in your hearts for him. Thanks for all your thoughts.

Finally got a chance to get a little work done on my Pete N Poke. Here are some pictures of the right wing I started last night. It was pretty uneventful just a regular wing build. The only thing that is requiring a little work is the plywood wing tips. They were very fragile and both broke while I removed them from the stock sheet.

I have one question though that someone might be able to help with. I am going to add the static wing strut part tonight, but I want to make it where it is structural. I want to be able to bolt the the wing struts to the wing and the fuse. I have a couple ideas on how to do it but any ideas would be great. Please post pictures if you have tried this. Thanks in advance

Mark

It's disappointing to hear that GP did not even bother putting tapered trailing edge stock in the kit. Are their other kits that primitive? I like carving things like cowls, and I don't even mind making leading edges, but a straight taper should be done by a machine. That's been pretty standard for at least 50 years.

Nice planes, everyone. I like the vintage homebuilt look.

Are you referring to the wing struts, which are non-functional or the main struts (cabane)? If the wing struts between the bottom of the fuse and maybe 2/3 of the distance between the wing root and tip, I would build them as designed. That is the fit loosely in slots built in the wing and fuse and sort of float loosely. The struts are non-functional and are for appearances only. IMO bolting the struts to the wing and fuse isn't necessary.

Now the main struts (cabane) holding the wing to the fuse is a different matter. When I built mine, I drilled small holes between the vertical and horizontal pieces and inserted and glued round pieces of toothpicks. I also glued small gussets between the vertical and horizontal pieces.

I believe there is an old post describing ways of strengthening the main struts. Sorry, I don't have any way to produce a picture of what I did, but it will be evident when you get to that part of the build.

There are brass flight control horns I got from hobbylobby to attatch the struts on a Telemaster, I am planning on using pushrod ends and piano wire to secure it, but on the Telemaster the struts are funcional, on a 8 foot wing. i will see if i can find a link

Thanks Todd for the link. I think I want something a little different though. I want to find something to attach to the plywood flat wing struts. If anyone has a good link for one please forward it to me. If not I guess I will have to fabricate one. That is always fun so I would not mind it that way either. Thanks again Todd.. Be safe and hope all is well.

PNP looks good. keep up the good work. I have been flying for about 25 years, since age 13, I am just now getting into building. I really like the looks of this plane and plan to get on started real soon. I'm going to keep up with this post.

Thanks ,
Jamie

Wow I feel really bad I have been so busy and have not done much with my PNP lately. I laid the plans down to start the left wing yesterday, so hopefully I will get time to make some headway. Thanks for all your patience with this build I know it has been a slow one.

By the way I think I just got a little burnt out because of those darn trailing edges on everything. The wing has to be done the same way as the center piece. So I decided to remove that right wing from plans and the start the left. This way I can join the wings together and have a sturdier surface to plane and sand those trailing edges. It just takes all the steam out of me when I got to do that. Anyways I wish they would change that part of the design but oh well. Builds character. Keep following please and thanks.
