Default Balsa USA ENFORCER

A couple of questions for those who know.
1.Do you have to have a computer radio for this plane or is it like the Shrike with a elevator and ailerons?
2.Maybe a stupid question but with the engine backward do you need a pipe or macks. Looks like the muffler would blow backwards, towards the front of the plane.
3.Is there a hole in the center of the fuse for the prop to turn>I'm looking at the Balsa USA in RCM and can't tell.
4.What do yall think of this plane for those who have one (or had one).
I met a guy from La at the field the other evening who has one and he said that it's surprising how it will float in for a landing.

I've never had a pusher and kinda dim on it.Actually never even seen one for real except in the mags.

Thanx Walt

Computer radio is not necessary, but it's always nice.

A standard muffler works.

There is a slot for the prop.

It is an odd looking plane, and I don't care for the sharp angle at the rear edge of the canopy, but some slight mods will take care of that. And it's a good flying plane, but it's a bit faster than you might be used to, be careful.
Thanx Walt
You're welcome.

Bill.

The enforcer is a great flying plane, even in the wind.
I didn't like the canopy that came with it either, so I
put a laker canopy on it, and stretched out the fins.
What do you think?

Default Bill/Ralph/Plumber

Thanx Guys,
OK,Bill, thanx for the info. I want a fast plane.I have a Shrike and Champion 45L.I love speed and if it ain't fast I don't want it. My question on the plane was mainly the landings. I had a Cloud Dancer that didnt' land as slow as was told but that's ok. I do like it to slow down for a nice landing...In the air?? I want it fast or not at all!!!!
Ok,Ralph...Very nice looker..Sharp as a tack litteraly.
Ok,Plumber,I guess you sumed it all up with the Yehaa..

I'm buying one..My next plane as soon as the check book shows a balance.

Thanx again.Walt

PS.what engine are yall using? I'll use a OS61SF with probably a 11x8 or 12x6.What yall think/

Q-Ball:

Want speed? That 61FS should pull a 12x8 fine.

I run a 12x6 three blade on K&B 61 engines without trouble.

The problem will be finding the props in a reversed pitch.

OS used to supply reversed rotation crankshafts, if you can find one you will have a much greater prop selection, as you will use conventional props ane crank the engine "Backwards."

Bill.

OK Q-man, go with a 91 and be looking for ailerons to feel extremely sensitive, scary sensitive. Nice deal as you only need 3 channels. There is no rudder, steering gets hooked to aileron servo, kinda weird. Balsa Usa kits are for a patient person. Use forethought or you will get bit on any given step. Plan ahead! You will freak out on the vertical performance, admire the landings, and have a ball with this plane. Everytime I take mine flying, people stop on the side of the road and gawk. Looks cool in the air and sounds cool from the prop, kinda of a grindy sound, hard to describe. Mine took about 2 weeks from box open to first landing. As I said before..............YEEEEEEEEEEEE HAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!

Brian:

I like your airplane. By now you should have flown it. How did it go?

Another minor item. You say "signature removed out of sensitivity to others." Why didn't you remove that fellow holding the airplane too?

Haw. Gotcha.

Looks like a pretty nice shop too.

Sorry, didn't mean to mislead anyone but that's not me!
It's just a page I happened upon while surfing.

In that case I withdraw the comment.

Really not your airplane?

Loved my Enforcer now that it's gone. I wish I didn't get rid of it.

Easy to fly in my opinion. (getting used to no rudder on landings was different though. He He)
Pitch sensitive depending on WOT to idle. (nose pitch's up when throttle is cut)
CG is pretty important to minimize this effect.
Cool nose high landings all the way to the ground.
I'm going to build another but plan on retracts and bigger engine.
Used Kraft 61 and it flew fast but not that fast.
Slow flight is cool. Chop the throttle while high up then turn on High rates and just sink the airplane straight down. about 25 feet off the ground the wings will start to rock but above that it's pretty stable and neat.
Hovering is different with a pusher but doable (just thought I'd throw that in. he he)
Props are hard to find in the size you want.
I omitted canopy all together and just used monokot to simulate it.

I don't have the factory muffler to this 61SF but do have a max with the two pipes which point down and slightly forward when the engine is mounted sideways. Will there be a problem mounting the engine sideways on this plane. Hopefully the max would stick thru the hole in the fuse. What yall think.

Q-Ball:

Have to widen the slot for clearance, but it should work OK.

One of the things I was going to try was either using a fourstroke engine most exhaust rotate.

Or the other idea is to use a Supertgre exhaust that rotates.

Or find a helicopter exhaust. I've got one right now for my TT46 that points down. (I'm thinking of scaling down the enforcer for this size engine possibly, the wing will be easeier to transport that way) There would have to be a exit hole in the wing to accomadate this mod but it would have the exhaust blowing toward the back.

On the one in the picture above I used a pitts style strap on muffler and just reverse it to were it pointed up and back. the exhaust tubes had to be cut for prop clearence though.

just some more thoughts.

Ever seen a Force 1. Designed by Laddie Mikulasko as well. Built in about a week but only lasted half a flight though.

Default Good Point!

But I like the nose of the enforcer better (which I'm sure I could modify the force one to look like it) Thanks for the tip...I forgot that the force one was a kit.

I bought one from a super scale 'guy', have a look, he extended the wing roots and the nose, plus tricked out the cockpit.
