Wings and tail feathers done. Lots of smaller assemblies like pedals, shock struts done. Still need that big middle part you sit in.
Have not worked on it in a few years. Took a "quick break" to do a Triumph Spitfire 6 cyl conversion and got completely sidetracked into Triumph cars.
Have some pics but just wings and tail like any other wooden winged home built bipe.

More recent TR activity started out with a perfectly nice 77 Spitfire in 2005. Few months later I bought a GT6 from a guy that also had another GT6 engine and trans I also bought and decided to put in the Spit. Then I decided to put a Mazda RX8 rotary in the Spit. Separated the body from the frame in order to do that right. The RX8 install languished for a couple of years due to projectus interruptus (read: "Bit off more than I could chew"). Then decided to simplify and go back to a TR6 engine in that. It sits. Meanwhile sold the GT6 and bought a 69 TR6 that needed paint but otherwise great. Still needs paint! Recently bought a garage-find TR7 and am just now completing an engine rebuild with some performance and reliability upgrades. Nice rust free Texas car, convertible, 30 years in a garage. This will be a daily driver (I hope).
So that is my Triumph history for the last 15 years. It started though, with my first Spitfire, a 73 bought in high school in 1974, and includes two TR3's, two GT6's, one other TR6, and an unknown qty of Spitfires (thinking 6 total).

I'm working on a Hammer 40 short kit. Shorter kit than I expected. It didn't have plywood wing saddles, so I have to cut that part out myself. About the only parts I got were wing ribs. And two sets of rolled plans.
In my cabinet is a Balsacraft F8F Bearcat - about 40-inch wingspan.
At home in Texas I have a partly built Sig Senorita and Global B-26. The latter is an ARF, not a kit. I brought the kits to Arizona so I had something to do.
Oh, and I have a Sterling Emma C Berry that is done except for nameboards. But she can go sailing at any time now. I brought my CNC with me so I could do them. The kit is old and the decals crumble so I need to make new nameboards.

I've collected kits for the last 35 years. Ironically, I prefer to build from plans. With very limited exception, I've gotten them pretty cheap. At last inventory I had 24 kits. I'm thinking that number is closer to 30 now. I'll list a few for fun: Rich Uravitch T28, Goldberg Chipmunk, Bridi Cap 232, Sig Kougar, King Kobra, Astrohog, smith mini plane, Northeast Aerodynamics Twin aire 20 and 40, Great planes super sportster .60, Top Flite giant scale P51, P47. I've never owned a royal or one of the top flite .60 size warbirds kits but always wanted one. The royals, top flite red box, and even the proctor kits (if you ever saw one at a swap meet) were pretty expensive. I bought all of mine at swap meets, most of them during the days when no one wanted to build anymore and ARFs were the order of the day. Now kits are more scarce and getting spendy.
